I have entered this event on the 10th Feb, looks like it is a good event and great value at €15.

Anybody else entered or have any info on it.

    Thanks

Did this last year. Very good race, nice hill pretty much right at the start but you get to freefall back down that hill as you finish.

+1 a very good race. Well run and good value. Course itself looking at the elevations doesnt look great but I find it a really fast course simpl because the downhill comes at the perfec time (its a looped course)

Stuck in work so cant get down to it myself

Thanks for the info, looking forward to it as its my first 10k. So at least guaranteed pb. Like the sound of a downhill finish:)

Just a word of warning about the course, lots of complaints last year about it being short.

Really? Have they changed the course? Seemed bang on (by that I mean slightly long on Garmin allowing for race line) When I ran it about 2-3 years ago?

getting worried now my 10k pb is about to be revised upwards:o

Ran it last year and it was as accurate as any 10k going according to my gps!!! fast course even with hilly section so people question it....

We have this every time with races and Gps accuracy. Garmins and other gps watches are not totally accurate. I ran this last year and measured it at 6.18 miles. This in my view is fairly accurate.

For me it's a very good race, if people want a flat 10k, run on a track. This is no more hilly than other 10ks I've run and at 15 euro, it's well worth the trip.

It is a great race and il be there again this year hoping for another pb, if you want a flat 10k run the K Club......

Yeah I had it at 6.15(I have to look up my stats to check this for 100%) and a lot of others had it being short too. Theres a few sharp turns on the course so maybe thats where the garmin loses its accuracy?? I can only speak for myself so all I know is I'd be more comfortable if it was 6.25 as opposed to 6.15, as when its under like that theres always a feeling that I just ran a cheap time. Having said that I'll be doing it again this year because its a top race, good depth of field and whopper spread afterwards. By the way, Tomo fitz and Sean Connolly will be there this year, think its 4 to score for team prize.

Stuck in work unfortunately. It could also be the fact there is quite a bit of cover especially around mile 3/4 when you have the dip in the course

I'm down (up) for this one! Going by last years results this easily one of the fastest races in the south east and a good size field so plenty of company.

A winning time of 30:06. Holy bejasus!

This is a great race run by runners for a running club. Great atmosphere, great course - a few hills but overall fast with a great last mile or so when you need it. Nice spread after too!!

It's one I look forward too each year but cant do it this time because of destructing body syndrome!

Some great names down every year too.

All the best to Slaney Olympic with it!

First time I've heard that. Was comfortably over 10k on my GPS, sign enough that it was accurate in my book.

Anybody got any ideas on the parking nearby or where/ when we get the race numbers etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 321 ✭✭EMPM

Dont have any details. There is not much info on their website. I would hope that they send an email to everybody with all that info.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 125 ✭✭Ross Runner

There is loads of parking around the start finish area so no worries there! speaking as someone who has ran this race several times you have nothing to worry about with regards to organiseation. Slaney Olympic are excellent at putting on events......

    Great race today,.. Fantastic organisation.

Easy parking..the race pack collection was seamless..

The start line wasn't very congested and the route was lovely.. tough in places but a few nice down hillers to get me through.

Very well stewarded throughout and nice and scenic too,

Everyone was in great form and special mention would have to go to the spread put on after. Best I've ever seen..

All that for €15 .. My first time doing this race but deffo one for the calendar for next year.

    Well done to all involved

    Great day out for €15.

I'd heard about the Slaney organised events and the high praise wasn't overstated. I'll be back for whatever else they have on!

Great organisation around the race and loads of stewards giving encouragement.

Only downside is the sheer number of hills on the route... Grub afterwards made up for it though.. ;)

Agree, it was a great race, cery well organised. I think the course is excellent, very challanging and if you got a pb there, then you know you have worked hard for it.

Defo do it again next year

Cant say enough good things about this race. Even though I had myself a pretty bad day(tore right calve muscle at 7k) I still enjoyed the race.
Good depth of field, a nice course and the best spread I've ever seen of any race I've run(and that includes lucan 5k). Almost fell into a diabetic coma just being in that hall afterwards. Savage run from Tomo fitz. He doesnt get the recognition he deserves.
