Coal Fire, Flushing Noise

    Hi all

Any help here would be greatly appreciated!!

A few mins ago I lowered the TV as I thought I heard something.

I have a coal fire, back-boiler and pump for rads.

There was the whooooshing sound , the sound of the back-boiler filling and the pump was going constant and loud enough to hear , upstairs the noise of the tank in attic filling or emptying.

I have had a fire since I was a child and don't recall ever hearing this.

I ran a tap to see if there was too much hot water , nothing changed , I plugged out the pump and it all went silent .

I have opened the damper and left the pump out as I'm worried.

I don't know if its anything but when i was setting the fire earlier i noticed some damp in the back corner of the fire , on inspection I saw no problem with the back-boiler , and presumed it may be rain.

Anyway sorry for the long story , just trying to provide as much detail as possible.

If anyone has nay idea what caused this noise , or what I should do for tonight that would be great.

Also if anyone has any recommendations of a good fire back-boiler pump type specialist that would also be great.

    Thanks
