Heading to a match in twickers and was wondering the best way to get from heathrow to that area.
Train, bus or taxi. Heathrow looks near but I'm not sure which is best way.

I was looking at the train to whitton but it takes an hour. I have a couple of hours but would like the fastest way so I meet some old buddy's.

Thought some of you six nations guys would have to experience

Taxi will be about £20-£25, take about 15 minutes.
There's a bus that will get you there in about 40 minutes for £2(490 i think)

    http://www.tfl.gov.uk/

A quick check there says it'll take you about 40 minutes to get from the Airport to Twickenham train station, not too sure on prices but I'd say it'll be a lot cheaper than taking a taxi

Bumpity... I just realised Twickenham is just 6 miles from Heathrow; and I'm arriving (for the Munster QF) 70 minutes before the Saracens-Ulster QF.

I know someone above said it's 15 minutes by taxi, but I'm wondering how realistic a chance I have, between time to get through Heathrow, traffic, and roads possibly being closed off around Twickenham itself?

There are only four roads in to Twickenham and on match-day they are virtually a standstill. Get to Richmond and walk up, I would say.

Cheers, will give that a shot.

If you don't mind a walk - about half an hour - you could get a tube up to Hounslow Central from Heathrow, then walk to the stadium. Or take a bus if you're feeling lazy ;)

I arrived into Heathrow last year at 13:30 for the 17:00 Heineken Cup Final kickoff. Got out of the airport at about 14:00 and got a taxi to Twickers. It took around 30min and cost about £30, arrived at 14:30ish.

For the sake of £25 extra over buses trains etc if youre in a rush I'd say just hop in a taxi, its so much easier and faster.

Thanks guys. I only have 70 minutes (assuming the flight's on time) so a taxi is the only realistic option. If it's 30 minutes to get through Heathrow and another 30 to get to the ground, it's very tight. (Only prob with moving the flight it it incurs lots of other costs: flight change charge, train into London, train from London back to Twickenham later in the day etc...)

Bear in mind that there are no bus lanes in the vicinity of Twickenham do being stuck in traffic listening to a cabbie talking rubbish is highly likely.

taxi to richmond village would be pretty quick, there will be people walking over the bridge (about 25 mins I think). but as people say below you'll odds on be quicker. on England international days more people take the train (as they com from all over,) so I dont think roads will be as mental as sell outs where everyone is coming into and out of central london. but could be wrong.
