    Hi,

I paid for items through an online transfer on Thursday. They were supposed to be collected Friday but the person had his phone off so the couriers couldn't get through to him.

He contacted me Friday and said he could meet them on Monday. Since then his phone has been turned off and the address he has given is not fully accurate as I later found out.

If I ring the AIB can the money be transferred back into my back.? He is with AIB also.

I have his name and bank details which should help me to resolve the issue.?

I would say ask for this to be moved to consumer advice. But on my advice UPS can be very picky with regards to addresses, maybe give him another chance as he seems to be attempting to co-operate

How much money we talking about? Try Googling his number to see if theres other scams related to it. Long shot but perhaps he lives in an area with rubbish phone coverage, the fact that it's another AIB account should make him fully traceable, a scammer would usually go the Western Union route.

If bank transfer rather than credit card, the bank will likely tell you that you have to sort it out with him directly if it's viewed as a dispute over the goods. However, there is still good reason to report it if you genuinely believe that it is a scam - that would be obtaining property by deception and they would likely have different procedures in place. Report also to the GArdai.

If you arranged the courier its probably a scam. A genuine seller will in the vast majority of cases organise postage or shipment. I've never met one that wouldn't.

What did you buy? And for how much?

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. The matter has been resolved today. The person apparently lost his phone but I found him on Google and was able to contact him through other means. Basically I feel he chanced his arm and was caught out. Thanks again.
