    Hi folks,
Im currently trying to upgrade ram from 4gb(2x2gb)to 8gb(2x4GB corsair CMV8GX3M2A1333C9),I'm using an ASUS P5QC Motherboard which has 2 DDR3 slots, from what I gather this RAM should work, when I turn on the computer it sounds like it's running fine but pc screen is blank. Ive reinstalled the 4GB and it works fine,my BIOS is latest version and everything is set to Auto in the AI Tweaker boot menu,is there any other solution or setting,im not great with this stuff!!
    thanks

    windows 7 pro x64
    ASUS P5QC
    Radeon HD 4890
    Intel q9550

Try one of your new sticks by itself, then the other. Either could be a dud.

As I dont know the board, Quick google throws up Asus' own website which states features and also:

    * DDR2 1066MHz DIMMs work only on the black slots for one DIMM per channel.

A bit more digging and I found the Manual.
The DDR3 DIMM sockets on this motherboard are orange-coloured and do not support DDR or DDR2 DIMMs. Do not install DDR or DDR2 DIMMs to the DDR3 sockets.

The DDR2 DIMM sockets do not support DDR or DDR3 DIMMs. Do not install DDR or DDR3 DIMMs to the DDR2 sockets.

So basically make sure you have them in the orange sockets.
