    Hi All,

I have a query regarding lasek eye surgery and hoping someone can help! I got the surgery done 2 weeks to-day but I am finding working on the computer a nightmare- it's extremely blurry (almost like I have gone long sighted). I am just wondering has this happened to anyone else before? If so how long was it like this? my far away vision is slightly improving but I taught it should be better by now! any advise would be welcome!

    Thanks

Hopefully, someone who's had the surgery will reply to you. But I do know that LASEK is a big of crazy for quite a while afterwards. However, I would have thought it would be settling down a bit more than you are reporting. You shouldn't feel shy getting onto your surgeon - you paid decent money I'm sure.

Edit: Are you longsighted? How old are you?

    Hey,

I got it done with optical express and I rang them this morning- she said you can get longsighted after lasek.. just taught it sounded a bit strange- I am 26 and only ever been short sighted!

Like you, after 2 weeks I taught I should be seeing a vast improvement by now.. just a bit annoying when I work on a computer all day so when everything is a mass of blur it doesnt help!

I was hoping has this happened to somebody else and they could offer advice?

    Thanks

    Hello,

I had Lasek back in May and it did take at least 3 months for everything to settle down! I was -6 in both eye so it was a huge change for me (& my eyes) The first few weeks at a computer were difficult but it does get better! As well as the computer, lights at night were a concern for me but these issues do fade over time. A month after my lasek, I had a check-up and was deemed long sighted but at my 3 month check-up it had corrected itself to 20/20

It's just your eyes getting used to everything all over again!

Try and take lots of breaks from the computer screen and rest at night. I used to increase the font too just to make life a little easy.

I also had LASEK two weeks ago and I'm having the same experience as you Jen. I'm told it's a normal yet temporary side-effect.

Girlfriend had it done in November. Wasnt comfortable driving for about 10 days.
Computer etc practically unusable for 2-3 weeks, bit of dazzling and fogginess around bright lights which is still there a little bit. It is a slow recovery with lasek, but what you've described is normal her surgeon assures her.One of her eyes is pretty much perfect by now but the other is healing more slowly, which means her vision is about 95% she says. Reckons she won't be 100% for probably another month or so, but believes the long recovery is worth it since lasek has much less likelihood of complications than LASIK. Having said that if both eyes don't come in 20/20 she doesn't know if she'd go through it all again for a second treatment!

Thanks all..ended up having to go back and get the contact put back in one of my eyes as some of the cornea had come loose (2nd time iv had to get the contact put back in since my op on Jan 9th)- very painful.. but iv been assured long-sightedness is an issue up to 4-6 weeks.. just a bit annoying when working on comp daily! I doubt I would go back either...found it very painful- i got lasek done as an enhancement procuedure as my eyes went back slighly short- sighted after the lasik op (was -5 on both eyes- was 20/20 for 2 months but then started going short sighted again and the prescription settled at 0.5 and 0.75).. the difference between lasik and lasek is hugh in both pain and recovery time!
