    Hi
I've been doing the '30 day shred' dvd and almost finished it now. I really enjoyed it and the fact it was only 20 minutes was a bonus. I did it when the kids were napping which was an added bonus, no dragging them out to be minded while I hit thee gym.
So, I was wondering, when I'm finished this, is there any workout dvds on you tube anyone could recommend I do to maintain my fitness?
I'm looking for something similar to level 1 on 30 day shred which was more weights and lunges/squats. The level 2 and 3 was more based on 'plank exercises' which I find really tough because I can't do them properly and my back always ends up killing me!
    Thanks!

    Hi,

I started with 30 day shred too and found it a great start. Some of the other Jillian Michaels dvds are good too - No more trouble zones, 6 week 6 pack. I then moved onto the Beachbody dvds - TurboFire (loved it - mainly cardio, some strength but a good varieity of workouts - based on kickboxing style), then did Chalean Extreme (mainly strength - you'll need weights or bands). I'm now on Insanity which is very hardcore cardio / body based strength - its a killer but I'm loving it :) There is also a new one out called Les Miles Combat which I may look into. Anyway if you google any I mentioned above you'll find loads of reviews - also youtube will show what they're like and see if they suit you. I like the structure of doing dvds - other people are much better at devising their own programmes at home!

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Meant to say too that you can get a lot of the DVDs I mentioned at a reasonable price on Adverts.ie and ebay etc so definitely shop around! A good basic set of weights can be got in Argos (heavier than the ones you'd us in 30 day shred) or some of the sports shops.

Im doing Insanity right now too, its definitely insane, but I love cardio so Im enjoying it a lot.

For free workouts, try this http://www.myomytv.com/
She uses kettlebells a lot, but there's also plenty bodyweight exercises if you dont have any of those.

Theres a youtube channel called 'BeFit", and they have free workouts too. They tend to rush through the workouts and some of the people I find a bit annoying (way too smiley for my liking) but they are free, so I guess cant expect them to be as polished as the ones you pay for.

@Methven - I was thinking of trying Chalean Extreme next. How did you like it? Do you need a lot of different sized weights for it? I have one set of dumbbells which arent the adjustable ones

Insanity is great isn't it? I finished it recently and had great results with it. I'm now doing a hybrid of it with P90x.

I did like Chalean Extreme and would definitely do it again - Chalene Johnson is so motivating. But yes its a pain changing weights if you don't have the adjustable ones (they are on my list of things to get when I'm a bit richer!!) I had just one set (from Argos - 20kg) and had to keep pausing the dvd and whipping on/off the plates. You do get very fast at doing it though. The trick is to watch the workouts first and write down the weight you are going to use with each move - I took Chalene's weight (she tells you what she uses) and reduced by 10%. It takes a bit of experimenting! You can buy the dvds at a good price on Adverts etc. Alternatively you can use bands (not me favourite piece of equipment if you read my log recently!).

Best of luck and hope Insanity adn Chalean Extreme go well for you!
