Can anyone help me decide. I have a vaulted ceiling in my new build commprising of the kitchen dining area. I was thinking of intalling a 140mm Mineral Wool Rafter insulation together with a 82mm insulated plaster board on the underside along with an airtightness membrane. I also met a guy today and he said i wouldnt be able to stay in this area of the house unless i put in the spray foam insulation with my insulated slab.
Now i have counter battened the roof and used an approved breathable felt if i wanted to proceed with the spray foam right up to the felt. So .... My question is will i be able to stay in this room if i use the mineral wool and insulated slab because this is the main living/eating area in the house where the family will be residing. It's not a massive area 5m x 9m so cost isnt an issue. I just want to do the right thing. My Provisional BER says the mineral wool and insulated slab is sufficient. But i also heard that the PIR board deteriorates in quality after a few years and then i also heard that the rafters will need replacing after 10 yrs if i use the spray foam. The stuff you have to listen to!
Any honest advice and experience is very much appreciated as i have until the end of the week to decide.
