Mini One - ABS Light

Hey guys, 2004 Mini has ABS light on for the last week. Comes on & off at times. Would it have anything to do with the weather? Today for instance my girlfriend said it came on when the temp dropped to 3 degrees. Maybe the car disables the abs in cold weather incase of icy roads?

    Any insight much appreciated, cheers..

Well it's not an intentional weather related feature. Brake fluid level ok? Flakey sensor or module maybe. Do you have traction control?

Presumably once it comes on it only goes off once the igntion is turned off?
Does it come on specifically when turning by any chance, or when going over a bump?

Quite likely a sensor failing due to the cable "breaking" at times when it's stretched a bit imo.

Ya brake fluid level should be good. Car got serviced two weeks ago so I assume mechanic topped it up. As for traction control, im not sure to be honest..

At first when i turned the car off the light would go out, but not now. As for it coming on when turning or hitting a bump I don't know unfortunately, its my girlfriends car so I don't be in it much..

I hope there's nothing wrong with the abs system itself, got the whole system replaced only 3 years ago at a cost of €1,200 !!!! Brake pads done last week on all 4, light came on just before that job, but went out again shortly after so forgot to mention it to mechanic..
