My boyfriend and I are looking for an apartment to rent,we've found a really nice one and we're thinking about going for it.My parents have agreed to help us by paying the deposit and giving us a quarter of the rent amount every month until I get a job because we are both on jobseekers, didnt go for RA because the place does not accept it,but it isnt a problem for us to pay. My question is once I move in what happens with my job seeker payment?Do I have to inform them that Ive moved in with my boyfriend so that they can means test us or do I just wing it? I wont be changing my address as my home is only five minutes away so Im just curious as to what I do,Any feedback would be great cheers

Well some alaboration would be helpful as Im currently boardering on being homeless and an apartment is make or break for me. I realise it's fraud but what I want to know is can they find out we are living together if neither of us change our adresses....

How are you bordering on being homeless if your parents are going to pay some of your rent? You've obviously not fallen out with them, so what's wrong with staying at home?

Fraud is fraud, plain as. You either tell them you're cohabiting or you don't move in together and commit fraud.

You say your not officially changing address but one of you Will have to put the bills in your name now i don't know how much the powers that be can find out and delve into but that might catch you out would probably be better to go above board with it. What if the landlord registers the tenancy ? Or has to go on benefits himself at some stage and names you as a source of income? Anything can happen.

You will have to inform them you are co-habitting and declare the income you are receiving from your parents
