Kerry council passes drink-drive permit motion

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2013/0122/363832-kerry-council-rural-vote/

He wants the Gardai to issue special permits to certain people who live too far from the pub. He also says it will reduce the number of suicides from a feeling of isolation. I can't help feeling he's just looking for a free pass.

Nobody should drink and drive full stop, no matter where you live. Even if it did go ahead how would they decide who gets the passes and who doesn't? I can't help feeling it will be the old regulars at the pub, probably wearing tartan caps and above the age of 50. No way will they be giving it to anyone under 30, especially if they're male. But then again if they don't have a fair system across the board, it's discrimination.

I think it's regressive and makes us look foolish as a nation once more.
