    Hey lads,

Would post this in graphics but...yeah...I'd rather sort this in the next year:p

Just installed a Club3D Royal King 7870 two days ago. Furmark'd for 20 mins, fine. Skyrim on ultra, delish. Bench'd with 3DM, 3DMV, PCM, Heaven.

After reboot, screen tearing, like mad, on the windows desktop, scroll a page in chrome, tear. Move an exporer window, tear.

So I changed pixel format, perfect. Sorted thinks me.

Reboot, its back, switch back to the original pixel format. Fixed again. And so on and so forth.

Then last night I had two artificats/flickers in a game of LoL. Just the two, but I'd expect none.

    Rig specs:
    Q6600 @3.5
    DDR3 8GB @1300
    Asus P5E3 Pro WS
    830 128GB
    RK 7870 @ stock.

    Cata 13.1, Driver 9.14.10.0945

Main panel is 1080p connected via HDMI, secondary is 1280x1024 on DVI to VGA.

Any suggestions as to what might be up? I'm going to keep looking myself but if any of you guys can shed some light and speed things up that'd be great.

    Cheers,
    ED E.

What power supply have you got ? Hae you tried different drivers ?

If I was in your shoes I would send the card back it shouldn't be acting like that at all

As someone who has been stalking these forums in anticipation of building a gaming pc in the next few months, that's not the first time i've seen a post describing issues with those royalking models

What sort of monitor/ TV is it and what format settings are you changing it from/to (Not that I am confident that sure such information will be of any help in getting to the bottom of this)?

It sounds something like maybe a driver bug or monitor TV auto detect problem with the monitor to me.

For one or two flickers isolated to a single game, I'd give the card the benefit of the doubt for now unless it becomes a pattern elsewhere as well.

    I'm flicking between YCBR 4:4:4 and 4:2:2.

Panels are a Dell ST2210 and Dell E196FP. Flickers happen on both panels simultaneously.

I'm thinking it might be some vestigial config from my 5770 or something. Gonna try a few things then driver sweeper. Already ran ccleaner to sweep the registry.

PSU is a CX430, recommended is 500W but they're always exaggerated due to the volume of ****e PSUs out there. Its been fine under load(doesnt even get warm, nice cooler!). Highly doubt its a power issue, unless its ATI powerplay being thick.

Problems with LoL suggest bug rather than fault I think, if Skryrim and heaven can run fine its not being stressed, LOL is vsync'd to 60 and is designed to be playable on a P4.

Forced both to 70hz, stopped. Locked and went for food, came back and flickering again.

You able to try it in a diff box?

    RMA tbh

Seems to be switchable RCB or YCBPR Input Color Format on the ST2210 monitor, it might be worth checking that it matches the format that CCC is defaulting to after each reboot?

Would 60Hz not be the max the 22" can take at its max resolution of 1920X1080?

Yeah, I was going on the EDID info, when I checked the dell site it doesnt even state refresh rates. Forced both to 60 but still doing it.

Could bring it to my brothers, but thats a little down the road. RMA would be very premature IMO.

Nearly out of ideas but do you have a DVI cable handy to just to test the 22" by itself?, at the very least it would take the pixel format stuff out of the equasion as it YCbCr is not supported by DVI.

Afterburner removed, appears fixed. Was probably applying the old on boot settings and f'cking with the voltage. Then when I applied a setting from CCC it returned to normal. Maybe. All speculation. Running just the 2210 right now btw.

*waits to see if problems return*

Yep, gone through a few boots with both panels connected. Used it a bit and no sign whatsoever.

Note to self: New graphics card? Wipe Afterburner configs!
