What are peoples views on this engine? Would I be better off getting a 1.3 or 1.4 Diesel? I drive country and city, I don't want a sluggish car but this looks the biz. No wife or kids so perfect size car imo.

How many miles a year do you drive? You will need to work out if it is worth financially to go diesel or petrol rather than just following the current trend. The petrol model will be cheaper to buy so you need to be doing the miles for the diesel to make it pay for itself.

My sister has the 1.25 litre engine in her 2008 and finds it grand, nippy enough too. The 1.3 is ancient, not very refined, cruid and would not pull the skin off a sausage, it was discontinued in mid 2003. 1.4 TDCi is not very quick either and they do tend to suffer from injector seal problems.

I was doing about 15 to 20k every year driving to work or college, but I have moved up to the city now so my millage is way down. Id be looking at 2011 to 2012 reg. I have been told the petrol is better in this car by a few people. Currently I have a 1.1 206 and find it the most sluggish thing in the world, I hate passing out in her, sometimes I have to go into 2nd gear to get enough power to overtake.

The current model Fiesta 1.25 litre was available in two different power outputs - 60bhp and 82bhp. Given that it is heavier than the previous model I don't think I would bother with the 60bhp for overtaking. The diesel is only 70bhp too so no rocket either. There was a 1.6 petrol 3 door Zetec-S available for a time which was very nippy but they are rare enough. Best thing to do would be to get a good test drive in all of them and see which one suits you.

i bought a 1.25 version 5 door new in 2005, my daughter then bought it off me in 2008 she is still driving it today 150k + on it now,has always been serviced and never had a problem with it it still polishes up like new as well, country and city driving, insurance is less than 300 as well, only issue we ever had was the price of the tyres, apparantely they are an unusual size ?
