    I'm looking for a motherboard for Socket775, with 2 PCI-E x16 slots, 1066MHz, dual-channel DDR2, able to be overclocked. Not bothered about SATA/1394/audio. Suitable for a Q6600.

    Cheap!!

I found this one but too expensive:

I have a Q6600 on the way, but might it be easier to find 2 x16 slots on a more recent generation board perhaps ?
I think I have a socket 775 motherboard at home. I can pm you later if you like with the model number?

May as well look for something DDR3 capable, I got mine on adverts for €50, Q6600 running at 3.5Ghz.

Do you use a non-stock cooler, if so what type? And what temps do you get, right now at 2.9GHz I get 75 - 80 but this depends on room temperature, can get to 88-89.

Would expensive thermal compound or a watercooler make a big difference?

Bah, throw that stock cooler out man.

I dont even have a big case so I cant do it properly, just the small Freezer 13. 45 at room temp, thats with the fans down on minimum. I could go 3.7 easy but I prefer to have it quiet. Goes to 65 on full load.
