My parents are thinking of getting an extension built, and are wondering how much glass to incorporate. I like lots of light, but they say they would be worried about heat loss / pooor insulation. I suggested treble glazing as the site is exposed to wind....its southerly facing so at least can get a bit of solar gain during the day.
Can people who have "glass box" extensions tell me if they are happy with them....specifically if
    (a) they are cold in the winter...ever have any regrets about going for them then?
    (b) they have a problem with furniture fading etc in the summer....is fading less of a problem with modern windows compared with the light from large single glazed windows years ago?
    (c) they would consider an overhang of say half a meter overhead outside the window, to help keep it clean if nothing else?
    Thanks for any replies.
