    Hi Folks

Good time to be thinking of sitting on the grass in Clontarf
eating a donut after doing a run in the middle of summer!!
Seems poles apart but its well on its way too. Time does fly

We are on Saturday 13th of July this year. And we have our
fingers crossed for the same weather as the last 2 years.

The Half Marathon, the Five mile and the Junior run will
all be featuring again. Prices are the same €30 half, €20
    5 mile, Junior €7

For the Half marathon we will have a NEW exciting concept
at your disposal that I am rolling out. It is called
Outcomerun - Positivity gives you the Edge. In a sentence it
uses running to take you on a path towards greater positivity in
your life. Its a programme i've created based on my experience
as a Life Coach and a runner. It will be open to anyone who enters the
Event. It is not live yet, but hang tough, and I'll let you know
more about it when website is up etc. Its just a mention for now.
    Say no more...

Last thing to remind you is the race has sold out for the past 2
years. It's not nice turning people away so if you interested -
stake you claim on your entry in good time. :)

I've been searching on your site and cant find it but what time does your race start? I'm searching on an iPad so maybe I cannot access all of the site however when I'm on the homepage and click on the big logo at the top it redirects me to a page in Chinese!

    In a word, FLAT !

Its an out and back course, you go along the promanade, left across the bridge and down on the bridge ( you'll have 200m on soft sand ), then a few km on compressed sand on the beach, 200m more soft sand and then back onto tarmac until the turn around.

Then its the same again on the way back, a nice course with good water stations and as i said FLAT !

Eoin - whats the story with the buses back if I sign up for the 5 mile on Sat 13th? As I understand it that race starts at 11:30. I know you'll be offering them I just want to know how frequently and from what time? Looking to do this with the better half as part of our Dublin Rock n Roll Half Marathon training.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 739 ✭✭✭eoin ryan

The buses go every 15mins. It is the Dublin Bus.
From the time the winner comes in....

FYI - race is going to sell out. Suggest you enter very soon

What kind of numbers do you have signed up for the 5 mile?

(I've entered already, btw. Just curious.)

    Howdy all,

I'm looking for someone to do the half relay with a mate of mine his other runner got injured at the weekend so i need someone to run. I think its the 1st leg out and he'll do the return back in.

If anyone can do it just pop me a PM and i don't have the organisers permission and if he doesn't like that he can pee off;):D

See you at 8am on Sat Eoin !

Wave starts on a race that goes along the beach. Cue surfing jokes and corny jokes from the wise cracking pacers.

21c next Saturday at 10 am will make this a tough test folks. Suncream time.

I'm really looking forward to this race! Going to be my first race in Ireland.

As I'm new though I'm looking for some advice on how to get a the start this Saturday. I'm from the Leopardstown area so I'm planning to take the Luas to St Stephens Green and walk to Tara Street Dart to take the train to Clontarf. I could also take the 130 bus from Abbey Street. What service would be the most reliable? I don't want to miss this opportunity obviously.

Tara St to Clontarf Road will take 4mins on the Dart, then it's a 3 min walk to the start without any fuss.

Would you mind arranging to have scantly clad female models with water hoses and ice buckets at each mile marker?

    Thanks in advance

If this comes true for Saturday, I'll be quite happy - 16 and cloudy with little breeze.

25 slots for either half marathon or 5 mile will be available at Reg on Thur at 5pm. First come - first served. I won't pre-hold any so please don't ask. I undercounted the number of entries. That is how they became available... Woops!

Also we will have an extra aid station at km 17. We got permission in light of weather. Better to be safe than sorry....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭thirstywork2

What is the max you can hold on the course for the half?
Great course if the wind stays down.Think it's abit silly having entries on the day if you travel up only to be told they are gone. Why not leave them open on your website?

    Good work Eoin.

What extra measures, if any, do you expect will be needed to keep the route across the beach free for participants? With the current run of good weather I'd expect the beach to be mobbed and would have some concern about people crossing runners on their way to and from the water.

We are not taking entries on the day. We are taking them on Thur at Reg.
We were never taking entries on the day

I was out there tonight and went for a run around 7 and it was mobbed with kids, cyclists, dogs etc all mingling. I'm guessing it would be impossible to keep the whole route free of people wandering across runners on a Saturday morning in a heatwave besides a beach.

Yesterday morning as I cycled past the race start area a rather helpful chap was sweeping up all the annoying gravel that was spilled by the council onto the cycle track around a year ago. I figured this tidy-up must have something to do with Saturday's race. If it does, thanks for making my commute a little easier! If not, thanks to whoever took it upon themselves to clear up the mess!

That would've been Dilbert out with his sweeping brush. He doesn't want anything interfering with the pacing.

Yeah that was me - I hope you appreciate me driving 2 hours each way in that heat to clean up gravel I didn't know was there... and still got my day's work and a session done at home... kudos to me, eh?

DIlbert is one in a million. For another race last year, he filled in 5 pot holes before the race in case anyone would get injured.

Just wondering if by any chance there was anyone here heading out to Liffey Valley this evening to pick up a race pack who might be able to pick up two more for me? I know they're available for pick up in the morning but I'll be tight for time to get there before 9.15am and I'd imagine it could be very busy in the morning...

Not to worry if not, just thought I'd throw it out there to see if someone fancied doing a very good deed (to be rewarded with eternal gratitude!)
