Dell Vostro 3360

Is the verdict out on these yet, seems to be very high spec for the money e.g. 3rd generation i5 processor, 13.3 screen 6g RAM and 128ssd and plenty of ports for €600. http://www.dell.com/ie/business/p/vostro-laptops#!facets=65235~0~3364376,41105~0~3280672,213169~0~3086416&p=1

To be fair that's not a comparable Lenovo. The thinkpad T Series is comparable to the latitude series not the Vostro series.

Vostro is more the cheap and chearful catagory of Dell's business lineup. Things like standard warranty, support quality would be different.

Also dell list ex vat so it would be nearer to €700.
A latitude with similar specs as the Lenovo is roughly the same price.

In that price range a comparable Lenovo would be a Thinkpad Edge series laptop.

I would fully expect a machine like the lenovo linked above to last 7+ years with minimal work needed to keep it going. The vostro on the other hand...I would have my doubts.

The vostro is a very competitive spec, hard to pass up given the price, but at the same time I know from experience that those Vostro machines are never built to last.

I have to agree that the Lenovo's are good laptops built to last. However, for that price I'd be happy if I got three years out of the Vostro.

Used to own a Vostro, and had t get it repaired (technician came to my house to do it thanks to dells awesome warrenty) and he told me that Vostro's are usually made with last years parts, still new and everything, but just parts that weren't used in the previous year.

Not sure how true that was, but would explain why it's cheaper.

just be aware the 13.3 inch screen will be no good for gaming, so hook it up to a bigger screen if you can. I'm using a 14inch HP Probook for programming on, and find it horribly small, so i can only imagine gaming is worse.

Thanks for your reply. No gaming on the laptop, will be using for work i.e. ms office, sage and alot of accounts and tax software all running at the same time. I'll also be running two 21"dual display monitors via the VGA and hdmi.
