Freesat from Sky + recording ability sub

Bought myself an Amstrad HD Sky box in the past few weeks that has just the one LBN input. Happy enough with it. Have also got very recently a white UK Freesat card from eBay. Equally happy with that too. No longer stuck with the irish EPG and having to mess about with 'Other Channels' to watch Channel 4 HD and the others. The favourites list is set up to filter out the likes of Sky 1, Dave etc.

Have been thinking though. If I was to take back the sjy box I have at present and trade it in for a normal (twin LNB-in) Sky+ HD box and retain the Freesat card I bought, would it be easy/straight-forward to pay Sky the £10 a month for the ability to record?

I have never had any dealings in the past with Sky. Would the fact that I don't live in the UK affect things?

Maybe I'd be better off buying something like a Humax box instread, even though the up-front cost is much higher?

That option is only available to the UK I'm afraid.

Thanks muffler. I had a suspicion that that might've been the case.
