Found a spider, I'm keeping him/her, is it safe?

    Thats a wild insect. Why would you even think about "keeping" it??

    It's a house spider... and yes, its safe, but could be tricky enough to keep, and not sure it's such a great idea. Far better to release it in a dark shed or outbuilding, if you have one, and let it get on with life.

    It's a wild animal (although not actually an insect: it's an arachnid), and will do better left to its own devices.

    If I might add, by way of encouragement to let it out, they are usually safe but that particular kind (big Tegenaria species) can bite and some people do react badly to the bites.

    Good point. I let him out into the shed upon seeing this. I suppose I'd be better off buying one in a pet store, hopefully an exotic one, if they sell them that is.
