Though this might make an interesting thread, it probably doesn't apply to anyone who has recently bought but for those who have been keeping a PC going for a number of years how much of the original is actually left?

This is the original PC I bought in Feb 2009, parts removed have been struck out and added parts bolded. I'm pretty much down to the motherboard, RAM, DVD drive and PSU at this stage. :)

    Antec 300 case.

Bought an XPS 630i from Adverts last year .. don't have the time to game as I once did, but I still try and get a few hours in a week

    Original spec:
    Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
    2GB DDR2 RAM
    ATI 3870x2
    640GB HDD
    SB X-Fi

    Now:
    Q6600 @ 3.0Ghz
    8GB RAM
    ATI HD7770
    640GB HDD
    26" Asus LCD (1920x1080)

Runs stuff pretty well really. I've read on dedicated forums that the board can be changed (I'm not as up to speed on all this as I once was - these days I manage the guys that would do this sorta thing :)) but I gather any board will pretty much work as it's a standard ATX case unlike most of DELL's offerings, but that if I want the case LEDs etc to work it has to be an NForce board.

Any tips/suggestions around the €100-150 mark? No point buying the latest and greatest considering the limited use it gets compared to the "good ole days"

Just throw in a 7850 and you're grand.

The only parts I have left that's more than a few months old are my hard drives, and my LG 3D Monitor. Case/board/ram/cpu/gpu/etc all change pretty regularly. I'd need 50 hands to keep track of all the hardware changes I've gone through the past 5 years. Have slowed down a lot now though lately, so I would fully expect apart from maybe a case change, to have the same hardware for a long time to come.
