Hi, I'm wondering if anyone out ther has any information regarding the transition of Garda to Police Officer in Canada? I know the laws are completely different, so it would mean re-sitting exams and such.

Has anyone out there made a similar change, if so how was your experience?

    Thanks.

    Guys,

Two Canadian Forces have previously recruited Gardai, PSNI and England & Wales Constables on direct transfer, waiving visa entry requirements.

    These forces are:

    Calgary Police Service (CPS) http://www.calgarypolice.ca/recruiting/#/

    Edmonton Police Service (EPS) http://www.joineps.ca/ApplicationProcess/InternationalApplicants.aspx

Neither Force is currently accepting international applicants and both are unlikely to do so in the near future.

contacted directly and got a direct response,
you have to be a resident first , then you can apply through the usual channels.
that's for Vancouver pd , no interest in direct transfers but they are massively under manned over there.
