I'm thinking about doing Kings Inns degree next year and am hoping to hold down a weekend job during that year. Is it possible to hold down a job during the devilling year or how do people manage to finance themselves?

Yes, both years. It assists if you have some flexibility in your chosen job ... and make sure its consistent with the codes of conduct.

I have 2 p/t jobs and do extra nixers throughout the year. It's the only way of doing it unless you have mega savings and/or living off the Bank of Padres.

Do devils absolutely never get paid by their Masters? Surely there are some Masters that do? Or at least give some money here and there?

Usually they will get a few quid here and there but it would be a bonus rather than something to be relied upon.

Most masters will give from 500 to 1K once or twice a year. My first gave me 2k throughout the year and my 2nd gave me 1k throughout the year.

Codes of conduct regarding jobs are generally ignored. It states that the only job you can do is a lecturer or a legal journalist/writer. They wont penalise you if you work in a bar, restaurant or office etc. THey wouldnt like if you were a lapdancer or something that could bring the bar into disrepute.

I have heard of some masters allowing their devils to charge for masters and county reg appearances but this is quite rare (and only ussualy in 2nd year devilling) due to the recession.

Don't think I have heard of any master giving their devil any regular income.
