I have a 32GB Busbi Lite USB drive plugged into the back of my satellite receiver.
Read speed is 12MB/s & Write speed is 4MB/s.
When a timer is set & the programme comes on I get a message saying "USB is too slow, do you want to continue?"
I say yes & the programme will tape but, it's annoying to see this message every time I set a timer.
I need to record in SD & HD & I was wondering as to what is the best 32GB USB drive I can use for this.
I need a fast write & read speed I think.

Make sure its USB 2 device as this has a bit rate of 30MB/s. I think HD may Exceed the Write speed for USB 1.

    SD can exceed USB 1.0
HD needs better USB devices, it's the Write speed is the limiting factor. A lot of setbox /TV and USB stick combinations only do SD reliably.

You would be best get something that isn't depending on the Usb slot for power.

Sorry, the receiver is a Triax TSC114.
Any recommendations for a recording device?

The reason I got a 32GB USB flash drive is that my Intenso 320GB external HDD when plugged in & connected to the receiver just kept freezing the TV picture.

Its a USB 2 port on the TSC114 STB so nothing to be gained buying a USB 3 device. USB 2.0 Flash key should be fine as they dont require a lot of power to operate. As mentioned earlier, if using an external HDD it is recommended it has an external power supply as it can drain too much power from the box to run a USB only powered HDD. Possibly the reason it was causing the box to freeze.

now that is not a very good receiver, I read in a review that a buffalo 320HD works well.

I think what I really need to do is to get a DC adapter to run my Intenso 320GB HDD through the mains. All it has is a mini USB at one end & it's plugged into USB 2 on the receiver.
Obviously the receiver is not giving it enough power.
Can anyone point me to a link for a DC adapter for this?
