    I'd recommend using saveonlaptops.co.uk

Bought a laptop off them over a week ago for a great price! Haven't been able to find cheaper laptops anywhere else

    http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_G580_1296595.html

Lenovo are meant to be a pretty reliable brand. Was going to get one myself but went for an Asus instead.
What do you plan on using the laptop for?

I just need something with decent speed and plenty of memory..
Ill be mainly using it for typing up assignments in college and storing
    music on.

As the one I linked you to? They're the same laptop but no, definitely not.

The curry's one has a Celeron processor which I've heard are not meant to be great. The one I linked you to has a 3rd gen core i3 which is one of the newest CPU's to come out so it'll have much better performance than the Celeron. Once you convert the price it comes out to around the same so there's really no reason to go for the curry's one.

Buying online means more hassle returning etc. so it's up to you. But as long as you take care of it and don't get a faulty one (unlikely) then you shouldn't need to return it anyway

Same laptop but the currys one only has a single core Celeron processor where as the saveonlaptops.co.uk one has a dual core i3 processor for essentially the same money.

If it's that you'd prefer to buy from a bricks and mortar shop rather than from online, Argos have a Lenovo g585 for €399 with a dual core processor.

Is it a good machine? im just nervous because of the investment.. i want value for money and something ill get a few years out of.

My other choice was the HP G6 in currys too.

But is the processor as good?

Intel processors generally offer better performance than AMD. If you look up some images also, the plastic looks quite cheap, not so sure how good the build would be on it

so the lenovo would be better than the HP?

Well i reckon it would yes. Lenovo have always had a pretty good reputation. Would you consider buying online? Or are you set on going to bricks and mortar shop

If you can't live with the apps and without the start menu, just install vistart / start8 / classic shell ;)

Once you learn all the shortcuts and stuff you can get around way quicker than previous systems. Make use of the multi touch gestures too, they're really useful. I've been using it near 2 weeks now and I'm flyin around lol.

But yeah if you really can't get use too it do what Unkel suggested. There's loads of different ones available and most of them are free.

Can you point me in the right direction for it without getting into trouble on here.
    Thanks
