Problem With Medion. What do I do?

    Hey guys.

I bought a laptop from Medions website. Costing €1000 in November. I received it over a week later and when I turned it on it was slow and constantly downloading updates. It gave me the blue screen of death a few times so after a week or so I rang them up and said it needed to be repaired. They told me they could not give me another as it was outside the 14 days and they could not refund it. Which was fine as I just wanted it fixed. They arranged for collection at the start of December and this was done.
2 weeks later it is the 19th of December and I ring them to see what the story is. they had not yet received it and told me to wait some more time. I rang back on the 2nd of January to be told the same. They had no interest in trying to find out where it was and the Currier company could not tell me anything as it was Medion who had to ring them to find out as they were the client.

They finally receive it on the 7th of January and they apparently fix it (It was apparently a software problem) and send it back to me. I receive it back on the 14th of January, Almost 2 months after I first rang them.
In this time I had rang them several times to try and get answers but everytime being told by the German call centre that they do not know what is happening and they have no supervisors in their office to put me onto.

Long and behold I am having the same problems. I just rang up again and the German call centre agent once again told me he could only arrange a call bac from a supervisor in the UK call centre (I have been promised this several times and never once had a call back).

I am sat here with a €1000 laptop that doesnt work. I dont know what I am supposed to do. Do I need to get legal advice here?

I tried asking their Facebook page (I basically posted my whole story) and they just said they could only arrange a call back from the UK call centre (Again, this did NOT happen) - My post got over 500 LIKEs and was starting to go viral so they deleted the post and banned me from posting.

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Sam

ahhh i'd check the warranty that came with it. I'm not sure, but i'd think you would be entitled to a replacement, i mean they obviously couldn't fix it.

it's a shame you didn't buy it through a shop, as it's generally much easier to deal with them than feckers in call centers who don't give a ****e.

If you get onto them again, ask to speak to a manager, or someone in charge. The grunts really are no help.

As a techie with 20 years experience the vast majority of problems are software. I'm not saying this is the case here, I haven't seen the laptop, but it's easily checked. Back up all your data then wipe and reinstall with the supplied media. If this sorts your problem it's most likely software, if not probably hardware.
Software problems are not covered by warrantee and are chargeable (with postage/insurance etc) and if the original problem was software I'd wonder why you weren't charged tbh. This wipe and reinstall would usually be the second thing done in a workshop (after an attempt to reproduce original issue) so never send in a pc for repair with data on it!
As to having trouble dealing with a foreign supplier, that's the price you pay for not supporting your local business! It's much harder to fob someone off when they are standing in front of you!
Your first thing to do(if a wipe and reinstall doesn't fix it) is to get the laptop properly diagnosed and get a fault report. You don't have a leg to stand on until you know what the problem is.
