Relax for a start! Most beginners are terrified starting off so your not alone. If you're joining a good club with a good reputation then they'll understand what you're going through. You'll soon realise that the guys in the club are not out to hurt you and there's nothing to fear. I'd always put a beginner in with an experienced guy for the simple reason is that the experienced guy knows how to control what he's doing and most of them are always willing to teach you as they go along.

As said above buddy, you'll be fine. I was terrified too, doing my first class in two different clubs, and both (Rush Fight Academy and SBG Long Mile) are excellent for beginners. I'm sure you'll be made feel very welcome, we've all been there at some stage :)

like they said, dont worry. most clubs are friendly, the other people and coaches will make you feel welcome.
youll be matched with people your own size as often as possible.
no one will make you do anything youre uncomfortable with, they will push you till it hurts, but as soon as youve had too much stop and grab a drink. this is normal.
dont worry about getting fit first as you will get fit while you are there.

food wise, just eat a balanced diet of fresh whole food, no junk or processed food. stay well hydrated and bring a drink to class.

Ill recommend SBG too, im frequently beaten up by 17 yr old kids half my size.

17 is an ideal age to start MMA or, indeed, any martial art tbh. Every first classis nerve wracking. Same if you were joining a new football team.

So get the first class done, keep at it, get ripped and see the amount of tail you will get from there!

Never been to Rush Fight Academy and have trained with SBG in the past, but Defundu.ie run by Ray Butcher is the best club for beginners I have found, not trying to talk down SBG or anyone else, just my honest two cents. http://www.defendu.ie/beginnerscourses
