3fe getting out of Twisted pepper to be replaced by a cafe run by some of the good chappies that are already there.

Bit sad about this, I'm sure it will still be a cool cafe it just won't have the same buzz around the place.

I had noticed recently the website had removed the address, thought something was up.

Are they moving somewhere else, or shutting up shop?

they still have the shop on grand canal open and it will stay open. The grand plan is to open their own roastery and supply their wholesale customers from there.

Hey all, yes after 3 years at TP we've decided to move on and concentrate on wholesale and building a roastery here in Dublin.

Tom who's taking over the shop had been running the place for me for about 18 months and we'll be supplying the coffee so I'm sure it will be just as good if not better once he gets full control.

He's also being helped by some of the existing staff so you'll still recognise most of the faces. Toms one of the best so I wouldn't worry too much about quality, I'm sure he's going to do a great job!

Thanks CH and best of luck to both parties.

Keep us all posted on development of the roastery.

    Hey Colin,

Are you planing on importing & roasting a la HasBean?

Steve who owns Hasbean also owns 50% of 3fe, so he'll continue to source and dictate roast profiles etc. I will continue to be in charge of steaming milk ;)

    Wow!
End of era (3years!) sort of. Well I can only hope that you continue the trend of making the experience even better than before. Would love the smell of roasting coffee to waft through the streets. Whiff of anticipation before satisfying the need on a Friday morning :D

You can do that at home if you want.. just burn a couple of toasts and bring them with you to work... that should do the trick... it more or less smell the same! ;)

I can't be the only one who doesn't like the smell from the actual roasting process?

I love the smell of coffee brewing and coffee grinding but not coffee roasting.

When I got my first roaster I went home thinking of the delicious roasting smell It was going to propagate all over my house... I was wrong! I was expecting the same type of smell you get when you open a new bag of coffee, and it wasnt :(

I dont dislike the smell I just dont love it, I mean, you would expect it to smell delicious but... the whole place smells burnt that's it.

The bean does have a very distinctive coffee smell but it is hard to tell because the whole house smells like burnt toast... however, the bean still doesnt smell "nice", as you would expect, put them in an air tight vase, wait a few days and voila! now that's something I dont mind smelling all day long.

Was it only 3 years ago  3FE has come a long way from the counter on castors in the lobby I first knew! Fair play Col, I hope there's nothing on the horizon but continued success.
