New Car?

Have been keeping an eye on the Dacia Duster for the last few weeks and really like the look of it.

I'm in the market for a new family car and have €7K (€10K at a push) to spend.

I'm wondering would I be better off arranging a loan (or looking at their financing options) and getting a new Duster?

For my budget I wouldn't be able to get a decent family car with a warranty left on it.

If I was to get the Duster I'd be looking at keeping it for 5 years+ so it would be nice to have the 5 year warranty and not have to worry about costly repairs.

Any advice (from either side of the argument) would be appreciated.

Or you could buy a used car with a long warranty

Depending on mileage a Kia Ceed estate or the equivalent Hyundai i30 are hard to beat. Plenty of petrol and diesel models about.

This. I would much rather go back a few years and buy something decent.

If you don't go for the Dacia then this is the best suggestion so far imo. That said, I can't wait to hear what actual Dacia Duster owners have to say about their cars in a years time so please go with the Duster :)

You won't get a Duster for 10k anyway if that is your budget? Has anybody driven one?

From the OP it seems that they have 10k they can get their hands on and would consider borrowing €6k odd to get into a duster

Ah ok, misunderstood. I'm in a similar situation but more likely to look at used mondeo/mazda 6. Can see the attraction of the new Duster though, 3 year warranty and a new car. Would like to drive one.

I can't see the fascination with driving those yokes. It'll probably just drive like a kangoo.

Hasn't been slated yet by the car reviewers but it would be down to personal taste.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I would have €10K in savings and am considering taking out a loan of €6K if I decide on the Duster.

My main thinking behind the Duster is I want a reliable car to do me 5+ years. (I'd be looking after it so would hopefully keep it for much longer than this).

I'm in the market for a car this size for the family and don't know if I can get anything better with my budget.

I don't want the hassle of having to put a lot of money into my car. Our current car has caused us heartache over the last year and have probably put as much as it's worth into it. It seemed to be one thing after another with it.

I had planned on keeping it for the next few years, hence I was putting money into it. Fresh NCT and all but just found out we're expecting our third so need to upgrade a bit.

Also just to point out, I'm looking at this from a practicality point of view. The reason why I'm looking at the Duster is because of practicality and value. I don't care about anything fancy or the likes. Just want a solid car that will get us from A to B and will do so without any bother.
