    Hi everyone,
Could anyone tell me how much a farm valuation would cost. The valuation will be used for the transfer of the farm from the parents to their children i.e. it will not be used for sale purposes - just solicitor filing
    Thanks

Needed to get one done last year. They do a seperate valuation for each folio. We 5 folios were charged €550

I thought it was steep be sure to get a ballpark figure before you start.

Got one done in 2010. get prices beforehand. One crowd quoted 150. Other 200 and other 450.all including vat. The quotes were all from reputable estate agents with farm sale experience.

It may be worth speaking with a solicitor first. They may suggest how it would work and what the ideal figures would be. Whilst the valuation will have to be done on what's there, it may be useful to know what the optimum figures when speaking to the valuer.

Talk to your accountant about tax matters and your solicitors re. legal matters.

A good solicitor should know all the tax implications of such transfers. i am in favor of accountants overall, but in this case - why pay an accountant to tell you what the solicitor should know?

I'm with delaval on this one.

About 13 years ago parents were transferring site to my sister and husband.
Solicitor explained tax implications, sounded saucy to me.

5 min chat with accountant, informed me best move was transfer to my sister first and she transfered it joint ownership the day after. No tax bill.

Oh, ok - maybe we just got lucky with a good solicitor.

    Hi folks
Thanks for all the feedback. It was most helpful. I took the advice and got a few quotes (see below). The quotes are based a few lots of land with 4+ folio numbers

    the 3 quotes I got were between 150 & 200 euro + VAT

I thought that was quite fair & reasonable

    Noel
