    Hi,

I would ask as many people as possible to write a letter to Irish Rail demanding the 16.50 service be restored and not canceled. Irish Rail claim its a lightly used service when there is always 70-100 passengers onboard which is much bussier than some Cork-Dublin trains. It is the worst service to cut as many people use it including students travling from Carlow IT etc. We need to stop the service from being cut.

Irish Rail have no problems reinstating a service between Cork and Dublin which was cut around 2 years ago because of low demand, the only reason its being restarted is because they want to maintain the same number of trains per day to Heuston as to Cork.

People please write a letter to them denanding its restored and if not for them to publish the "lightly" used figures so we can see if theya re telling the truth.

    The address is:
Operations Planning Department, Iarnrod Eireann, Connolly Station, Dublin 1

If you don't want to write then keep tweeting them about the cut and ask them to pass it over to the dep or use facebook or call them.

Its a service that needs to be restored

It doesn't help that the sister company butchered the bus timetable last July leaving only a handful of peak time services while there are three or four overnight buses going via Kilkenny which are not really used at all.

Problem is that Dublin-Waterford is served by route 4 and 5 which means Carlow can lose out at certain times.

And that creates a problem when there are more people going to Carlow on the 004 route than to Waterford.
