Personally I dont see the point in Horan bringing this up at this stage.
Whilst I agree that Brolly tends to use the airwaves to push his various agendas, particularly slandering certain players to get Derry players off suspensions, I think this sort of stuff happens alot and bringing it up now serves no real purpose.
    What do people think?

    Indeed.

Why would anyone have been talking about what Donegal were up against when it wasn't anything worse than what they'd faced earlier in the championship.

1-yeah read that, but im sure there was a mayoman on some other programme discussing donegals "cynical fouling".

2-also, as somebody pointed out elsewhere there was alot of talk before mayo dublin semi about ref being bezzie mates with the dublin team. you could say that was an attempt to influence ref-i mayo got alot of handy decisions from ref that day.

3-is there anybody in the country that thinks joe brolly is an objective analyst? certainly i dont think the all ireland final ref is going to be takin too many pointers from joe on how to ref match.

4-mayo must have broken the world record for deliberate fouls in the last 20 minutes of semi against dublin. it wasnt cynical,it was just stupid as it gave dublin a load of handy frees to get back within striking distance and didnt slow the game down at all.

5-brollys "tactics" didnt work as ref let mayo away with alot in final.

As a Mayo supporter I don't like how it is linking us psychologically back to last season. To move on from a defeat in a final you really need to 100% forget about previous season. Need to be training with enthusiasm.
Now every interview with Mayo players will bring up "Do you think personally Mayo receive biased coverage?"
If you look at Mayo's squad for 2013 they should be genuine contenders with the players who are coming back in or back from injury. Strong in each line.

I wouldn't agree with that Dave and I would imagine what Horan is attepmting to do here is create a sort of siege mentality and create an 'us against them' environment which can be very effective, the best example of it I seen was with Ger Loughnane and the Clare hurlers in the mid 90's. And to be fair he's probably right , persoanlly I have always felt Mayo were too ,nice' and everybody's favourite second team etc. thay may benefit from having a bit of an edge

Also remembering the pain of defeat is often used as an inspiring tactic where the player is hell bent on ensuring they never experience that gut wrenching feeling again, Kilkenny hurlers have mentioned on numerous ocassions that the hurt of 2010 was what spured them on throughout 2011 and that the 2010 final was mentioned reguraly at team meetings and training.

Brolly for me. He wins the battle for giving away a kidney to a relative stranger. When Horan does that, then the fight will be back on.

Brolly was probably the first analyst to call Donegal winning it so he must know more than that article lets on.

Tbh I think it was a stupid thing for Horan to say, if Donegal had succumbed to the hype I doubt he'd be mentioning bias now.

That's Brolly. He is a paid journalist/pundit and is entitled to make whatever opinions he wants so long as he isn't slandering anyone. You can choose to agree or not to agree, listen or not to listen. But he is known as a bit of a troll and does have some odd agendas spinning around from time to time so i can understand Horan's position as well. I don't think Horan should get himself involved, particularly after losing the All Ireland it's only going to come across as sour grapes.

Couldn't be more irrelevant to this discussion.. what a daft post..

Never worked for Mayo in 1997 or 2006, hopefully this outfit are different

We all have ways of judging a man and his righteousness, Joe is out in front by a long way imo.

But this is nothing to do with Joe Brolly as a man and is irrelevant - this is about Joe Brolly as a pundit. Not that it has anything to do with things but i'll humour your argument - if James Horan donated a kidney and a lung would he therefore win this in your eyes??

It'd be tough, it'd equal the kidney donation effect thats for sure, and it'd put him ahead in the lung donation. Would he do that do you think?

But ok, just saying he did, and thats a bit "just sayin", because lets be honest, there's no guarantee he will, but IF he did, well, I've seen them both play football, and Brolly was the better player. I've seen Horan manage, and he's the better manager. I've seen Brolly pundit, and he's the better pundit.

So if Brolly donated a lung also, to even out the donation by Horan, then as things stand, Brolly is still winning.

    EDIT

    WAIT!

I've since done some research on this, it takes two people to have a viable living lung donor, who would the second donor be in James' case? This may be relevant to the story, if it was Joe, then it would even would you not agree?

Horan had much better performances in Croke Park in his career than Brolly.
Even Brolly would admit that. Pretty sure Sean Og OHailpins last game of football was getting well beaten out of it by Horan in a full forward/full back match up.

On losing Mayo sides Horan was Mayos stand out forward scoring spectacular points from play.

In overall career Brolly probably shades it but Brolly himself loves to put forward the big day big player argument.
