    hi

during the summer i got the attic converted and this added another rad to the system. Now having the gas on the ground floor is very hard to heat. I have tried to balance the rads and this did appear to do some good. The boiler is 16 years old (ideal classic) and there are no thermostats or valves in the house?

Boiler was serviced in Dec and there is a Carbon Monoxide alarm in place

Another issue this yearis i am getting is condensation on the sliding door at the back!!!

What can i do to get the system to work better? the water in the tank is boiling hot? thanks in advance

All that i can do on the cylinder is set the temp which i have at 60 deg i think its hotter than that in my opionion. Its also an immersion heater in the cylinder

There should be a balancing valve on the pipe feeding the coil to the cylinder or on the pipe returning from the coil. It will normally be a gate type valve, i.e. round red handle clockwise to turn off, anti to open. Turn this completely off and see of it improves the heating downstairs. If it does, open anti-clockwise a few full turns only.

there is a valve in the hot press that i was told was for setting the pressure in the system (does this as i have opened it a fes times and the pressure goes up) This is then closed and is closed now

Oh reading that again and taking a look there is one at the bottom of the cylinder Is that the one you are talking about?

Do not increase system pressure! What have you set it to?

Round red handle one!! If the heating is on, the pipe that the valve is on will be hot.

Its at 2 (bar i assume that is)

I see the one so i will try turning it off and see if that helps in the morning when the heat comes on about 6am (early risers here!!)

You will have no hot water if you leave it off. Open a couple of turns.

Make sure the pressure is at 1 - 1.5 when the system is cold. It will be higher if the system is hot.

Thanks i will check this later as the heat only went off there a few mins ago I will also open the valve a few turns too and
    see how it goes

If the pressure stays at two do i need to letsome out by the bleed valve on one of the rads

Yup spot on. Just make sure the system is completely cold beforehand.

Its dropped back down to between 1 and 1.5

Left the valve open a few turns so lets see

Thanks for the replies and suggestions
