Mid level phone recommendations

Hi folks. I'm in the market for a mid level phone, looking to spend around the 200 euro mark (give or take a bit). It needs to be pay as you go and new - I'll be using it to reply to mails and browse the web (so web response speed is important). A mate recommended the galaxy ace 2 which is about 240 new. Can anyone else…

Can anyone else second that recommendation or point me in a different direction? There seems to be a dearth of info on mid level phones. The only reviews i can see are comparing the high end or entry level phones.
