Hi there, can anyone recommend a mechanic in the Mahon, Blackrock area of Cork City? Just need a small job done so do not want to take my car to a main dealer. Thanks!

Its a 08 VW golf and I have been told that it might be the plugs or coil need to be replaced? The car has started to shake slightly when stopped.

    When was it last serviced?

I would expect coils to last longer than five years. I wouldn't take it to a main dealer for that but the thing is VWs, especially as new as 08 can be very expensive to repair if there's a problem. Firstly, I'd call into any Advance Pitstop type place but if they can't solve it quickly and cheaply, I would be looking for a trusted VW specialist like Autowerks in Midleton even if you have to travel, you could save yourself a lot of time and expense.

    Good advice from Cantdecide.

Richard in Fasfit Togher is excellent and gives great advice. 021 496 1022

If they can't help, try Ardfallen Motors in Ballycurreen IE 021 4322999.

They're near Musgraves C&C - a guy in the AA recommended them to me.

Maybe try Ardfallen Motors first. They are well experienced in dealing with this sort of problem.

I looked at their website and they only appeared to talk about recovery and roadside assistance these days. They used to look after a couple of my VAGs and BMWs so I thought they were after downsizing or summit:confused: If they're still going, fair play to them, they always did a good job for me.

Yeah they are alive and well. Collected a mates car there during the week and the place was as busy as ever.
