The Loyalist Spring;a Strategy of Tension?

I havent lived in Northern Ireland full time since I was 18 but its still my home; I dont want to live there though now as it is. Politically I would be a (non-Roman Catholic) Christian Socialist and a Republican though Im opposed to violence unless its extremely necessary.

There have always been since the Empire begun extremely sinister elements within the British Army. The Italian Gladio agents were trained in the UK; Gladio very, very probably carried out the Bolanga bombing which made the Dublin bombing of the 70s and Bloody Friday in Belfast look like a child setting off a banger as part of their attempt to create conditions were a right wing coup could be carried out. We have groups like Column 88 in the British Army- 88 standing of course for Heil Hitler!

One of the principle leaders of the so-called "Loyalist Spring" is former RAF, Loyalism is filled with former (and current soldiers). Is this an attempt by sinister forces within the British military and intelligence establishment to overthrow the order established by the GFA and bring Northern Ireland back into semi-fascism?

Hesitant to point out facts for fear of being anti-semitic somehow but this adds an extra element to it.
Israel has played a significant and largely secret role within the dark world of Britain's covert operations against terrorist groups. As long ago as the early 1970s Rafael Eitan, the then head of the Israeli hit-squad known as the "Kidon" toured Northern Ireland and later the Special Air Services (SAS) base in Hereford, England. Rumor has it that Eitan was less than impressed with British training, tactics or their "kill" rate. Within months of his visit there began a number of fundamental changes in security policy and operations in the county. More SAS were to be there and a number of specialized anti-terrorist groups would eventually be formed, ranging from the 14th Intelligence and Security Company, once described as the "thinking man's SAS" to the Mobile Reconnaissance Force or MRF which would later become the Force Reconnaissance Unit (FRU) . The FRU was to be later involved in the targeting of suspected Republicans for assassination by the infamous Loyalist death squads in Northern Island.

Loyalists are very tied into the Israeli extreme right.

Jamie Bryson was going on about how power-sharing under the GFA was like "Israel sharing power with the Palestinians".

Birds of a feather. I personally can never take any groups from the extreme right at face value, including the "sharia4everbody" Islamic versions seriously. It always transpires that they are riddled with informers and undercovers, such as the groups Timoithy McVeigh was involved with or are agitating in such a way that is actually counter-productive to their stated interests such as the crazy Muslims or the EDL and so on.

Not really birds of feather. Northern Ireland is a very different situation to occupied Palestine- but thats for another thread I guess.

I agree though about Wahabi Islam; since Afghanistan it has worked hand in glove with the CIA helping to destroy for instance Libya which was a shining example to the whole of Africa.

Any information about the EDL I would be grateful for.

Again this comes down to the idea of standing armies.

We need to replace them with people's militas.

As for you being called an anti-semite, well I have heard people accuse the mayor of Belfast of being the same for refusing to reward a medal of the young cadets (an organization to pimp for the British Army) of being of a sectarian, but as a Protestant I dont think he should have backed down.

I've never seen anyone put these pieces together so this is either an exclusive or I am way off. biggrin.png

In 2006 two spooky veterans of anti-Communist propaganda during the Cold War sent out a memo to right-wing groups urging the establishment of anti-Islamic groups. They were Stephen Baldwin & Jack Wheeler.

Wheeler seems to be a Washington liason with right-wing militias. He organised an 1985 summit in Angola for right-wing terrorists, death squads, and drug traffickers, which included the Afghan Mujahadeen. The event's co-organiser was Jack Abramoff, who later worked for a bank that was investigated at the time for laundering money for Al Qaeda and whose yacht some of Mohammed Atta's cell in Florida reportedly frequented.

Stephen Baldwin was at the time of the memo Director of the Council for National Policy.
Council for National Policy

The Council for National Policy (CNP), is an umbrella organization and networking group for social conservative activists in the United States. The New York Times has described it as a "little-known group of a few hundred of the most powerful conservatives in the country," who meet three times yearly behind closed doors at undisclosed locations for a confidential conference. It was founded in 1981 by Tim LaHaye as a forum for conservative Christians seeking to strengthen the political right in the United States.

Incidentally, the CNP are funded by many of the same donors that fund the current Islamophobia industry. Daniel Pipes etc.

At the same time as this was happening in the US the foundations of the what was to become the EDL were being laid in the form of the 910 group. Who had representatives meet with Wheeler and Baldwin.
Another part of the new synchronicity arrived in the form of an email sent out last Friday to conservatives by Jack Wheeler and Steve Baldwin. One of the members of the 910 Group received the email and brought it to the group’s attention. A flurry of messages and phone calls ensued, and on Monday morning several core members of the 910 Group met in Northern Virginia with the two conservative activists.

The 910 group evolved into the Center For Vigilant Freedom (later the International Civil Liberties Alliance)

Two of the leading figures of the CVF were to become key members of the EDL. Christopher Knowles, a CVF Director was fired from his job with Leeds County Council for his involvement with the EDL in the fallout from Breivik's terrorism.

Another CVF member is Ann Marchini who the Sunday Times described as the "brains" behind the EDL in an expose they ran where they also describe how she arranged the key meeting in the EDL's formation.
Marchini, who is thought to be in her fifties, runs a buy-to-let property empire from her £1.6m mock-Tudor home in Highgate, a leafy suburb usually associated with liberals.

Marchini, who is believed to be divorced from an Italian banker, operates under at least two aliases: “Gaia”, the Earth goddess from Greek mythology, and “Dominique Devaux”.

She is said to have helped organise a “pivotal” meeting between EDL figures and anti-jihad thinkers in July 2009 and recently attended a discussion where the EDL agreed to consider an electoral pact with the right-wing British Freedom party (BFP).

The CVF's website was registered to an American extremist called Christine Brim.

Brim is a Chief Operating Officer of Frank Gaffney's anti-Muslim Center For Security Policy.
http://www.centerforsecuritypolicy.org/staff.xml

Gaffney's Islamophobic Center For Security Policy propaganda is bankrolled by the same right-wing/Zionist donors that funded the anti-communist propoganda of Baldwin & Wheeler.

Both Gaffney and Wheeler (the sender of the memo) are members of the pro-war Forgotten Americans Coalition.

There is way more to this, but I need some sleep. I'll try to finish it again.

No worries. I know it's a lot to take in and sorry for taking your thread off-topic. maybe mods will split it?

I dont know.

I see both the EDL and Ulster Loyalism as almost basically the thing, or manifestations of the same thing.

Though if you grew up and lived most of your life outside of the UK maybe you wouldnt see it that way.
