What do people think of pennys clothes on men. I Never go to pennys but plan to have a look soon. Are there T-shirts long lasting and feel good. What about socks and boxers, and also zippy's are they good quality or do they zip and tear quickly, do the colours last and do they look good on men ?

    Penny's are quality.

Now, your zippys and tshirts won't last as long as the other ones, but in my opinion they look as good, and in some case better, than stuff you'll get elsewhere for 4 or 5 times the price.

The tshirts are very nice too and not so long ago I bought a tshirt in a shop for €25 and went into Penny's to find one very similar for €3.

With regards to underwear and socks, I buy all of my underwear in Pennys. They're cheap and of sufficient quality!

Thanks, they actually sound pretty good from your reply.:)

They are good for the money.

The tshirts will only last about a month because they stretch really easily but who cares? They are only 3 euro so you can buy more :)

Jocks and socks are good. I get the jocks for a tenner for the 3 pack. They feel sort of silky. They are very comfortable.

Any pants in there i avoid because they never get the size right and 3 (!) times one leg was smaller than the other!

You quickly learn what to avoid. I've shopped there for 10 years or more (woman) and I've worked there too. I myself find underwear, socks and basic tops and t-shirts fine, no quality issues. Jeans are a total hit or miss and must be tried on first. The leggings are utter crap. Most other everyday stuff and going out clothes are fine, though I don't buy any trousers or leggings there and barely any jeans. Mary Street is the biggest store by far, recently extended. Just keep your receipt if you couldn't be bothered trying stuff on. Quality is pretty much the same in all departments- most good, some bad. Shoes are more bad than good, often uncomfortable. I still wear clothes I've bought there more than 5 years ago, and I still have high heels that have a taken an almight battering- 6 years old- that everyone said would fall apart after day 1.

I'm going to sound like I'm generalising here but the only upside is the price. Their stuff is generic, unoriginal and of rubbish quality. I don't understand the trend of people buying vast amounts of ill-fitting, terribly made clothes rather than owning less of clothes that are of a higher quality andwill look better on you.

With pennys you get what you pay for really. Cheap clothes but hence cheap quality.

I used to get hoodies and plain tees there when I was out of college as I was earning poor wages. They did me well but as soon as I had the money to upgrade the wardrobe a bit I chucked them out.

The extra few Bob spent on tees and hoodies in particular goes a long way with regards to longevity and overall quality - that's just based on my own experience anyway

    That makes no sense whatsoever.

Have to say after buying jocks and socks recently in Pennys you can't go wrong: €9 for a 3 pack of underwear and 7 pairs of socks for €1 each. All very comfortable and great value!!!

Great for socks n jocks but nothing else. Their clothes look great on the shelf but wash them once and you'll see why they're so cheap.

Sorry OP I'm a woman but some things in Penneys can be a real steal. I got PVC leather jackets in there for €25 and the quality was excellent. The same jackets are found in other high street shops for over €100.

You can be very lucky with some things and then other things are just cheap.
I have old bras from Penneys that have stood the test of time and even old jumpers.
    I definitely wouldn't write off Penneys - it's worth having a rummage.

Socks and jocks are grand, t shirts and hoodies are also good but try them for size first are they cam be a bit weird.

    The jeans look crap on.

There seems to be better quality and variety in Primark than Penneys for some reason.

As other posters have said: you largely get what you pay for in Pennys. Some of the clothes look so cheap that you wouldn't even take it off the hanger. That said there is something addictive about searching Pennys for that gem and you do sometime hit on a bargain. I find it handy for "trendy" stuff ot clothes or styles you aren't too sure about. But for likes of work-wear, jeans, staple wardrobe items and shoes, Pennys wouldn't be my choice.

From your post you say men 16-mid 20's. Then yeah Pennys clothes would be suitable if you are on a limited budget. I would still recommend you buy your jeans and shoes elsewhere.

Hmm, not so sure about socks! I recently bought a couple of 6 packs of socks there and they all had holes in them by my 3rd or 4th wear! They were the correct size. Oddly enough, I have other socks puchased there ages and ages ago that are still fine after countless wears (and washes!:)). Perhaps it was a bad batch!
