Hi all I have been offered a job outside of the EU for a period of seven months. The simple question is will I be able to claim Job seekers when I return. Has anybody else been in this situation any advice would be greatly appreciated.

When you return in 2013 and if you have enough overall contributions and enough contributions in 2011 which is the gcy for 2013 claims and your average weekly earnings in 2011 were > €300 then you should get top rate of jobseekers benefit which is €188 pw.

I am presuming that you are currently in receipt of jobseekers allowance on your return you can make a repeat claim for jsa. In view of the fact that you will be out of the country for this period of time it is quite possible that you will have to meet habitual residence criteria also.
