How come it's so early? I thought it wouldnt be back until later in the year.

Something I did think of a few weeks ago would be the episode count. If this is the last season as expected and they do 12 episodes as normal, that will be 96 overall. Would they do a slightly longer season to make it 100? Could explain why it's back earlier than usual?

Unlikely unless they do some double episodes as Homeland is starting S3 on Sun 29th Sept @ 9pm (dexter is also on on sundays @9pm)

Great to see an early return for it..

    .. here's hoping it's as strong as S7.

Which also means the entire show will be over sooner...

Still, nice to not have to wait so long this time.

As much as I adore Dexter, I hope it doesn't go on longer than Season 8. Things are naturally coming to a head now. Any more and the momentum will be lost completely. I'll be devastated when it's finished though.:P

If I had the time, I'd watch the first seven seasons again ahead of the return. Unfortunatly I dont have enough days off to spend watching TV all day/night anymore :(

I've just started from season 4! I've seen the first two countless times and three was distinctly average so..

i couldnt agree more, he has to get caught or be killed. I just wonder will they have one of their trademark bad guys that it takes dexter the whole season to kill or will they just circle around his imperetive demise.

    http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/04/10/yvonne-strahovski-returning-dexter/

Yvonne Strahovski is officially returning to Dexter for the show’s eighth season.
The actress is set to reprise her role in a multi-episode arc this summer as Hannah McKay, the gorgeous killer florist. Last season, Hannah became Dexter’s twisted love interest and a major thorn in his side. When we last saw her in the seventh season finale, Hannah had escaped from prison, and Dex was seemingly lucky to get away from her.

I just came here to post that. I wonder with the motif in the video if the season will end with Dexter
sinking to the bottom of a stormy sea
? Seems like an appropriate way to end it.....

Just from reading that post I had visions of
Deb on his boat dropping black plastic bags into the ocean.
    :D

I think S8 will end with Dexter
killing himself, he will realise what he has become and that he is now just as bad as those he has 'taken care' of.

I'll tune in, if only to see the saga come to an end; the show has been exercising the law of diminishing returns for a while now, and stretching the "Deb knows" plotline to two seasons makes it hard to stay patient with the series much longer; none of that arc rings true and really it should have been wound up at the end of season 7 one way or the other. Another season of Deb freaking out doesn't really excite that much ...

Yet another teasing trailor... Can't wait for it to return and am glad it's finishing this season.

^ There is talk of a spin off maybe with Deb

I love Dexter and I find Deb the most annoying character.... would anyone here actually watch this spin off?

    I like Deb.

Depends (obviously what route they go down), it could be OK if they go down the 'serial killer hunter' route. Perhaps carrying on from some of Lundy's old work in FBI...

yea that would be great. I just don't want a few seasons of listening to Deb Whining :-)

I think really Dexter should have had one more series after the Trinity Killer season, (Season 4) and wrapped it up then. It's been going around in predictable and formulaic circles since, I'm dying for something really exciting and different in Season 8 but not holding out too much hope. I still love the show but more out of loyalty to the brilliance of the first 4 series as opposed to anything brilliant and compelling that has happened on the show since unfortunately! :(

In relation to season 4, i personaly thought the ending was the best twist in any show, film or drama i have ever seen. I was in shock for week after it :).

Me too. I have to be honest and say I found Rita quite grating but the final scenes of that Series were genuinely jaw-dropping! I think one more series to wrap it up would have maintained that momentum and brilliance rather than dragging the arse out of like has happened over the last few series'. Where will it all end one wonders?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 452 ✭✭Bloc Party!

This is just my theory of how it will end!
this is just a theory, but I think Deb will kill Dexter, Harrison will witness this, the Deb will have to teach Harrison all of the rules as Dexters dad taught him
    what you think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,317 ✭✭✭gavmcg92

Love the two promos above. Sort of a take on this video, amongst others.

I really hope it ends with him either killing himself/being murdered/being caught and getting the chair/lethal injection.

Basically I want to see him dead. What I don't want is for him to drive off into the sunset with Harrison, leaving it open for them to start the show up again when they need an injection of money.

Thats great that they're getting it only days after it airs in the US.

    Its usually a few months.

I thought it gave away a lot until I read this article...not all is what it seems from the trailer (that is what I think anyway!)
