I've an opportunity to buy a Sigma 10-20MM (Nikon mount) for around €265 shipped from the uk. It's boxed and has the hood/case e.t.c. but the only catch is that there's a minor scratch on the edge of the front element (The seller said he shot with it with no negative effects on quality and he's selling it as he's moving to FX).

All things considered, is it a good deal?

I have a similar mark on my Sigma 17-70. You'll never see it in a photo.

Looks like a good deal to me, they go for well over €300 here.

are you 100% sure that it is a scratch, not a crack?

I can't be 100% sure as it's on EBay but the seller described it as a scratch and looking at it, it doesn't like a crack. What makes you think it looks like a crack?

There's an offer of an F3.5 10-20mm for €370. Another catch however, the filter thread has a hairline crack in it (That doesn't effect performance). The rest of it is pristine and this one is being sold by a shop. A good buy or should I pass on it?

Did you pass on the other one?

Did you pass on the other one?
Yeah, purely on the basis that it'd be difficult to resell.

Can you PM a link to the auction, if you no longer have an interest in it please?
