Has anyone got costs for their cars from these guys? If so were you happy with what they offer?

    Thanks in advance..

they really should be offering what the lads on Carzone are asking. that way they can buy the car off you, clean it up, fix it up, advertise it and sell it. and because they aren't trading your car in for a new one they also don't have to go through all that nonsense of making profit on a car they're selling you.

They'll be looking to get your car in cheap, sell it and make money. on the basis that you can't do this yourself. (which is why you called)

    :)

That's it. Can't really blame them for trying to make a living themselves, can we?

i reckon that if they get a few people willing to sell their car at the offered price they would still be able to offer a low price car on carzone then sell it and make more money that the person who has to keep renewing ads with a car with a ridiculous price.

I'm shocked! I thought they were just a comedy act, but they're trying to make money?

    Disgraceful!

Merlin auctions "Cash2Car" thing is similar, offers that you could only accept if it meant eating this week or not.

A car is only worth as much as what somebody is willing to pay for it.....
cheapest 01 VW golf comfortline on carzone is ASKING €3,750.... ( After haggling how much will it sell for????
so €2K is not unreasonable for a company to offer.....

cheapest 03 mini cooper on carzone is ASKING €8150.... again what would you pay after haggling....
so €6k is not unreasonable ....

Considering how long they would potentially have to hold the car before they sell it, depreciation, interest on money borrowed from finace company to buy the car of you.... have to say price seem perfectably acceptable...

Yeah, can we just get the name of the company in question, no need to be so vague.

They offer the lowest prices possible for your car .. you would want to be desperate for a sale to sell to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 703 ✭✭✭celica1994

seen alot of legit carsites advertising this but when i email them i get no reply, whats the deal? i hear theyre only looking for 04 cars upwards and offer ridiculous cash for em

Your not going to get a price for your car by e-mail or phone. You have to go into them and they have to look at the car and determin what they think the car is worth. Be sitting down when they make you an offer though, you can bet it will be very low as they then have to service it, valet it and try and sell it on at the market price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 703 ✭✭✭celica1994

well suppose thats true, but im wondering, ive got 2 cars, ones a 98 and the others a 94, from what i hear is that they are looking to buy cars that arent too old and are offering bad offers for the cars due to the fact theyre giving cash in hand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,360 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

They are probably only interested in selling cars of a certain value that can return a quick profit for them. A 94 or 98 car has little monetory value to these places considering they would have to offer some sort of warranty with them which would simply not be viable.

Did you try selling them privately?

gotta find the 2 cars reg forms first lol, ah thing was, just noticed a few car sites advertising it, seems like a new thing out lately

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,035 ✭✭✭✭-Chris-

If you got offered one or two hundred Euro each, I'd be surprised.

Sell them privately, you'll get nothing from a dealer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 703 ✭✭✭celica1994

your prob right, but i was just more curious then anything lol

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has used any of those cars for cash websites? It all seems so easy, I can't help but be a little suspicious. I don't want to input all of my details until I'm sure its all above board. Thanks:)

You won't get much whatever it is.

You'd be better just putting it up on adverts, gumtree.ie and donedeal.ie

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7 sack95

Well I was going to have the car fixed up and sell it on donedeal, but just don't have the money to do it. These websites seem to take all the hassle out of selling. I think I'll just put it up as is and see what happens.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,733 ✭✭✭✭corktina

generally they will offer you a much lower figure than its worth AND you have to deliver it to their yard which could be the other end of the country.

    ebay would be another suggestion

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7 sack95

The two sites I looked at offered money for delivery or else they would collect it which would suit me better. I just don't want the hassle of putting it up on a site myself and get wasters and the same crap offers if I can just get rid of as easily via these websites. To be honest I'm so sick of looking at it I'd nearly give it away! (but I won't)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,800 ✭✭✭Senna

For the convenience of selling the car fast, you'll probably get about 50% less than you would if sold privately. (They may pay better prices for newer cars.)

    Hey,
Anybody know any garages that take car for cash preferably northside??

    Cheers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,157 ✭✭✭✭Alanstrainor

Sell it privately, you'll get a lot more for it that way. You'll get ridiculously low offers from any garages offering you cash for your motor.

    What is it anyway?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,570 ✭✭✭Builderfromhell

I have often seen adverts by people wishing to buy cars that have come to the end of their life. i have an old Opel Corsa 1.4, 1999 , that works fine but has been parked in yard for about a year now as I can't afford to tax and insure it as well as my other vehicle.
Thinking of calling one of these 'cars for cash' people.
Anyone have any experience with them?
Are there better ways to get a good price for it?

If it is driving fine then put it up on donedeal for €500 or nearest offer. It will find a home.

Only indirect experience of friends and neighbours getting rid of non-runners.
If you do this my only advice would be to make sure you get the car out of your name. You should get a certificate of destruction or at least get the VLC (logbook) filled out by the new 'owner' and post it yourself.

As bazz says, sell it as a running car on donedeal etc. If you think it'll pass the NCT might be worth testing it if going down this route.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

    Hi guys,

I have an old 97 Opel Corsa that is off the road. Want to get rid of it and couldnt really be bothered selling it privately given what it would probably sell for.

Is the cash for cars route a viable option?
Any recommendations/contact details for someone who would pay and pick up from South Wicklow?

    Thanks

    whats wrong with it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭TechnoFreek

Not much. Just off the road, was second car but couldn't afford to keep it two cars going. Had planned on changing other car and off loading the corsa with it but again due to money decided against changing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

Stick it on adverts, someone might take the car for scrap value because they need it for parts.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,733 ✭✭✭✭corktina

worth more...I'd say €200 to the right person.. (paid that for a Fiesta recently)

I am sick of seeing those stupid "cash for cars" posters on traffic lights all over Dublin, and presumably other parts of the country.

As fly posting is illegal, why are they not prosecuted for littering ?

because they are probably doing business at the back of a petrol station or a local pub and as soon as the heat gets onto them they vanish for a while

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,525 ✭✭✭miller50841

It's a certain t community that the guards wont even touch so don't see the litter warden going out of his way to get involved.

Now you have brought this up what are the contact details for the litter warden and report each sign you see.

Or keep ringing the phone numbers on them and wreck their heads :D

Sounds like a plan but you then could be mistaken for the person who put them up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,525 ✭✭✭miller50841

A certain taxi crowd was/ is doing this also.
They put stickers on every bin on my road and many others and signs up on poles and at junctions also jet washed their logo onto walls around the place too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,946 ✭✭✭Bigus

It's a 120 euro fine for each sign from the litter warden, report them.

Assuming you can find and prosecute the party involved. Litter wardens are far more interested in fining legitimate business's who put out a poster for an special offer, even if its just on the side of the road. The simple reason being its not a big job to find out who put up the sign. You can't trace a prepaid mobile number in this country. They won't put the resources into it.

What really annoys me is the 'any waste' collected signs. Its fairly obvious its just being dropped off down the beautiful back roads and mountain sides of this country.

Presumably these characters operate from a mobile number and have access to a flat bed truck, etc rather than working out of a premises which means tracking them down is tricky.
