Hi I'm due in court for mention regarding an assault case against me on Monday the 21st.
Me and my solicitor sat down today to talk about te whole situation.what will happen etc
We both concluded that a compensation sum to the injured party is a must.how ever he insisted on getting the case done and dusted on that giving date. The last time we spoke he told me that the case will be up for mention on the 21st and that when I'm called il be asked whether to plead guilty or not guilty. The case will then be adjourned to a following date.
My problem is I don't have the funds right now and even if I was giving an adjournment of 3 weeks I'd have no problem with the comp.
I raised a few issues with my solicitor regarding this explaining that I want to make things right on the day and too have the agreed sum in full.
He could see where I was going with it but more or less said the way things go your better off getting it over and done with on the day.
Iv been extreamly anxious for the last give or take 6 months trying to come to closer and agreement with the injured party however I feel Iv only one chance to clear my name, avoid getting a conviction and to make things right for the injured party.
What are your opinions?should I try to get it adjourned in order for everything to go as planned....

Sorry pal, the charter forbids us giving legal advice and there is no way anyone can give you an answer here without doing just that.

At the end of the day, you are the solicitors client, they just give you advice, your wishes are final.

I understand the charter very well
I suppose my main point is that if I do adjourn is it true that it won't go down well with judge

That would be giving you legal advice if I answered that. Thats exactly what lawyers do, they advise on this stuff. Imagine if I said sure go ahead and adjourn and it didnt go down well with the judge...

Sure I'm only a stranger on the internet! Why would you listen to me!?
