Download an english windows 8 iso and install, then use your serial key

Turn it off? Just hold the power button on the pc. Then, download the English ISO as frozenfrozen has just mentioned.

Get on another computer, download an English iso, burn that to a disk properly, put it in the computer, boot up, DON'T put in the serial install fully, make sure everything is working right, use your 90 free days of windows to make sure you don't have to send your motherboard back, and then eventually put in your serial. this way you won't have to ever ring up microsoft to ask for your serial to be moved to another motherboard, in case it turns out to be DOA

There is an English version available on the site, you probably just missed it.

It's not a big deal anyway, you'll be sorted by the end of the evening I'd say.

I just realised that there is an english version available on their site but you have to look for it. If you just order windows 8 you get german version. It never occured to me that it would be a problem as I assumed you could choose whatever language you want when you put in the disk.

    Hello tuxy
I'll give it a blast in the morning and let you know what happens

You will need to be connected to the internet to download the english language pack. So you might have to install the ethernet drivers for your motherboards lan port.

If you can figure out how to navigate some of the menus that are in German it should work for you.

Ah don't give up, theres no way I'd be splashing out more money just to change the language.
Do you know a German speaker? Can you run another machine side by side in english and follow tucxs link. Consider it a challenge :D

I had to give up I'm afraid as after a half hour of trying to read german options and using another computer to translate I have decided life is too short for this crap. I'll just buy the English version and hopefully they will take this thing back.

I hear ya, :D, Maybe have a cup o'tea first though. You know libraries are open today, I'd say you could bag yerself a german speaker in the ilac!!

Actually I was planning on learning German myself so I'll just wait until I'm finished that and then I can use this computer.
