I was nearly 40 at diagnosis, and my ferritin level was about 3 or 400.
If it takes nearly 40 years of eating steak and drinking Guinness (OK, I wasn't drinking Guinness for the first 18!) to reach that sort of level, then kids probably won't need to be treated.

To be honest her level was already over 300 last year . It's dropped to 273 I think.im interested in how they treat it in children as I know it's very rare.her dad has it, he receives venesection every week and will do for the next three months.i know in girls of menstrual age they don't threat it. Sorry if that's tmi
    She doesn't drink Guinness :-)
I have read different things , some say to threat some say not to .id love to hear from anyone who has experienced it in children. I want to know do they do venesection and also how did it go. ?
I'd not want my little one to have to have it .
    Thanks cathy
