Budget Av receiver and surround sound speaker advice?

I hope its OK to ask for advice here on what to look for in an Av receiver and surround sound speaker setup?

I have no idea what to look out for, what brands are best or what I even really need for my requirements so any direction is greatly appreciated.

First off my budget is €300 - €500, I'd like to keep it closer to €300 but since I don't know enough about what I need I am open to go up to €500 if its really worth it.

I have the following devices in a smallish living room that I would like hooked up to the surround sound:

    Samsung Smart 3D TV
    Sony 3D blu ray player
    Xbox 360
(With the possibility of adding Sky into the mix in future)

I'm not sure if 5.1 is suitable for smaller living rooms/setups or should I just plump for 7.1 also since I have a 3D setup it seems I need a 3D capable AV receiver, is that correct?

Can anyone recommend anything suitable for my needs within budget? Or brands I should start looking into?

Thanks for the link willy (i came a few days ago to pretty much post the exact same thread as this, saw it was already done and just followed it)

That comes in at €330 delivered which seems to be a good price as its £305 on amazon.co.uk

A question about the warranty though, would you need to send it back to germany if there is ever a problem? That could possibly be messy.

Thanks, I'd have the same question as witnessmenow, it's an extra €50 on Amazon.co.uk which I've bought lots off and never had an issue so is it worth the saving of €50 to go with Amazon.de? What if there is an issue?

    Also available from Richer sounds:
    https://www.richersounds.ie/asp/product.asp?ObjectID=930&Mode=0&productid=1283&Results=true&keys=onkyo

Although their sterling price looks good, their euro conversion is a bit pricy!

Actually that's the next model up the 4505 instead of the 3505.

    Making it REALLY good value!?

I have left a message on their talk to forum but no reply. When you go to buy on there website does it show you their euro conversion before final purchase?

Seems to be very good value alright if you could get the sterling / euro conversion rate to be accurate.

There's a euro / pound conversion when you click on them on the left.

Didn't get to the checkout yet.

    Total Inc Delivery:
    € 406.48

    Edit: €421.48 on Amazon.co.uk | €499 on Amazon.de!

Pushes it towards the top end of my budget!

Edit(Should be about €370-€380 delivered from RicherSounds going by today's rates on Google)

Did you get in touch with them, or is that just from going through their website?

I've bought onkyo gear from germany before, goods have a 2 year warranty as opposed to 12 months here or the uk, and I've had a warranty repair done by onkyos uk service center.
