Hi all, have a nearly new moe that was downgraded with an M85 but this seems to cause the motor to overspin, stuck in an M95 which sorted the overspin but sent the fps way over!
Anyone know the best spring for legal fps and no overspin?? Tanx in adavance

Wouldn't a mosfet with an active break stop it?, or maybe put in a high torque motor john.

Have not got a clue about the springs :).

I could do that but thats more expense I just cannot afford at the moment

Just said I'd throw it out there, hope you get it sorted.

You could split the difference and use a M90 spring
In theory it should give you 30-315fps but be aware that not all M90 springs are equal and different manufacturers M90 springs give different FPS

If you are willing to change the spring anyway then why not snip your existing M95 spring
Cut a coil at first from the OPENED coiled end and re-test if is still a bit over then cut a LITTLE more until you hit the 315ish sweet spot

Will try it, dont mind about sub 320 its the overspin that ruins the shooting experience, btw the OPENED end means the piston end of the spring??

In a non-linear (multi-rate) spring one end of the spring has the coils closer together than the other end
This end is normally the end that goes inside the piston and it is this end that should be cut

When you cut a spring the cut end should be de-burred and the end reshaped to be a flat a possible

Sorry for Hi-jacking this, but roughly how many fps per coil removed will it lower do you reckon Kev? Is there like a rule of thumb or something along those lines.

My brothers VFC scar now fires around 340 fps after I installed a new hop up rubber for him the last day, obviously gave a better seal than the stock but was surprised by a bump of nearly 20fps .

It all depends on the spring as different manufactures have different specs for their springs
When cutting a spring I measure both the length and the thickness of the wire and how many coils it has

I then make a guess going on past experience and always cut less rather than more
You can always go back in and cut another bit off yes it can be a pain in the naughty bits but it is far easier than trying to put a bit back on if you cut too much
