Dublin Bus have now published a new spider map of key routes and city centre stops.

    From the Dublin Bus website:

    http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/News-Centre/General-News/Key-Routes-and-Destinations/
    Key Routes and Destinations Map
    Thursday, January 10, 2013
The map and street index shows the most frequent and popular key routes operating into and out of Dublin City Centre. Most bus routes displayed on this diagram cross the city centre and routes of similar colour follow the same path through the city centre, with the exception of routes 29a, 41/c, 31/b and 130. For example, Route 46a from the Phoenix Park is shown in pink entering the city centre via O’Connell Street and exiting via Nassau Street to Dún Laoghaire.

We have listed a number of destinations outside of the city centre and indicated the bus routes to get you there. Yellow discs show the locations of your local bus stops. The discs appear on top of the bus stops in the street. Use the index and grid reference to find the right stop on the city centre map.

Please see the Diagram of Core Dublin Bus Routes here:

I saw this earlier, to say the 14 goes to Beaumont Hospital is stretching it a bit isn't it?

    Far prefer the NTA one.

Well there is a Bus-Stop at the gate, which I usually let a few off at....

Mind you, like just about every hospital/commercial project completed in the past 20 years it was designed around a multi-storey moneybox...sorry car-park.

Tallaght Hospital is the same, routes originally serving the front door, forced to be pulled out due to mercenary car-parking and no dedicated Public Transport access at all....

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

I thought the nearest stop on the 14 was a good couple of km away?

The 27B on the other hand goes right in along with the 17A (although I acknowledge the later doesn't serve the city center)

I rather like the NTA one too except it should have been called core routes rather than frequent.

I do like the city centre map though on the DB guide - it's simple and clear.

Something of a shame that the opportunity was'nt grasped to finally nail down the City Fare Zone, which is still rumbling along for the need of a few "START OF CITY-FARE ZONE" plates...;)

It is listed - under the map in the "Hospitals" section.

Shops the stupidity of the requirements for Irish, duplicated in some places but none of the street / stop names are despite the scrolls having to have it, the mind boggles? If they don't need to do it here, why do it elsewhere...
Though I can only imagine the mess it would be with both.

No mention of Michaels hospital or the National Conference centre, or DIT, IADT and so in. In fact the list of attractions is extremely limited and a missed opportunity IMO

The 14 stops at the front gate of Beaumont Hospital.

What is the story with the city fare, like how much is it ? And do you have to ask for it to get it or would a close by destination just prompt the driver to give it to you ?

Heres the Story and Picture (The most important element in the entire saga, now incredibly deleted from the BAC website).

    http://www.dublinbus.ie/Global/CCF20Leaflet.pdf

The fare today is 65c Cash or 55c Leapcard.

You can chance your arm about close-by prompting, but if you are unfortunate enough to get on my bus,I'll only issue it within the specified Zone

Out of curiosity, Alek, which routes do you drive? I'm forever looking quizzically at the drivers trying to figure out if it's your good self hiding beneath the surly grunts :pac:

Given the amount of time, probable expense and even a template by a private individual on how to do it, this is still a pathetic attempt to make a user friendly map. Still no route lining, still way too many routes, still clogging up streets, all they've done is helped people know what bus to get based on where you're going .... even the fact that that information needs to be over clarafied and published is pathetic.

Accord to the driver on my route, that map is incorrect.

It makes no mention of the 123 route which he is on and the City Centre fare from Parnell Street to Lord Edward Street.
