As a result of a thread on gym etiquette, posters were commenting on the funniest/worst gym excersises and mistakes that they had seen. Here are some of the examples from the other thread, please add in your own!

Full credit to TiltedBrain for the great thread name!!
    Slightly off topic.

But if you saw someone in the gym doing something really stupid would you go over and tell them?

I saw a lad trying to do a bench press (using the smith machine) while lying on an exercise ball the other day. I thought he was going to kill himself.
Weirdest would be by my own friend- deadlifting with the EZ bar. I just don't know:o

Most annoying is- Curling in the fcuking squat rack!!!

Worst- Someone on the rowing machine only pulling the chain without strapping in or anything. Pointless.

Spotted a guy in the leg press machine struggling with a 45 degree architect triangle trying to measure the inside of his legs. I just didn't understand why he would do that. Still can't sleep at night thinking about it.

This seems to be a huge annoyance to people and is mentioned a lot however I've never seen it happen in my gym....yet!

Worst gym excersise that I saw was a lad sitting facing the seat (backwards) in the fly machine and pushing the cushioned handles with his elbows back behind his back???

Come to think of it the majority of mistakes that I've seen in the gym have been on machines!

P.S I think that we need a "Gym Mistakes" thread!

I'm half blind without my glasses. I was going to report a problem (can't remember what it was) to one of the gym staff who was standing in front of a treadmill (beside the controls part) with a clipboard. I approached him from the belt side, hopped up on the treadmill, not realising that he was doing some tests on it. He had it going full speed. I did a backflip with one and a half twists. My ipod landed on the other side of the gym.

I was across the gym away from the treadmills but some slightly older lady fell off the treadmill, in such a tame way. But on the treadmill behind her, a young girl paused her treadmill to help her up (she wasn't hurt, she was just helping her up) and she stepped off the treadmill before it had come to a complete stop so kind of tripped and fell onto the treadmill. Up until that point, I had only seen people fall on treadmills on the internet, never in real life. And like buses, you wait a while for one and two come together! It also reminded me of the Father Ted tunnel of goats announcer reporting that the nurse gone to clear the blockage has herself become caught in the tunnel!

I'm not sure, maybe it got locked or deleted judging by Hanley's post!

These threads unfortunately tend to descend into passive aggressive (or plain old aggressive) swipes at people and ultimately lead to trouble. Probably best to just worry about what you're doing and ignore the rest.
