Rest days ?

My current weeks exercise week is -

Monday - Spin & body Tone
    Tuesday - Trx
    Wednesday - Fit camp
    Thursday - TRX
Friday - Spin and kettle bells
    Saturday - Rest
    Sunday - 40 - 60 min light jog

All classes are 60 mins long

Should I be taking more rest days to see results?
Have only recently committed to going to these classes, would usually only do 3 a week, but have decide to do more classes to lose fat and gain mussel
    (tone up).
I do be sore-ish after the classes but nothing that's unbareable.
Should I be taking more rest/recovery days ? Or the harder and more you work the quicker, better and more permanent results ?

    Thanks in advance

I'm going to be completely honest with you.

I did all those kind of classes for a few years. You won't 'tone up' by doing them.

To gain muscle you'll need to lift weights. Heavier weights, for shorter reps.

Would I be right in saying that in your body tone classes that you do a particular exercise for a few minutes? Not counting the reps?

Your right about the body tone classes, they are more a cardio class then anything.

TRX involves rep counts and I assumed that this class would help me build muscle (tone up) as it involves a lot of strength training ?

Yeh the TRX probably would but weight training would be better IMO.

I've just found that with all those classes they are mostly cardio, even the 'tone' ones.

Could you drop the classes (maybe keep the TRX one) and start a weight program instead? Might be a bit daunting at first but if you want to change your body shape it won't happen in the classes.*

*I could be open to correction here. I just have the experience of doing similar type classes for 2+ years and not achieving the goals I had set myself.

    Thanks for the advice.

I will look into replacing the classes with more trx and look into doing a weight program.

I've just started the New Rules Of Lifting for Women. I've a fitness thread here if you want to have a look at it. Or look at gymfreaks thread.

Ive been doing similar classes for a month now, and Ive lost 4% body fat, and Im doing my inches tomorrow, but I know Ive lost a fair bit already, I can see the difference, so it seems to be heading in the right direction for me.

I do weights in body sculpt and kettlebells, so surely that counts with regards to the 'you must do weights' mantra?
