Cheers for the heads up Roger Hassenforder. I'll hopefully bring along a few others as well, looking forward to it!

Looks good. Where is the start for the 70?

Not sure the body is ready for the 70. Died doing 10 the other day :pac:

Do you sign up on the day?

Seems to be some form of preregistration , but would imagine they'll take on the day as well! Looks a handy rolly route, in and out of Griffins.

The long route looks crazy, I hope ye have clear road markings at the turns or ye might lose a few riders on the way around.....
Best of luck with the event!!!

I've registered for the long one but looking at the map I made need to bring a trained navigator with me. I hope this goes well for the charities involved.

im not actuallly involved, posted it for the publicity/interest.
potential for pantomime all right on that long route, could be hillarious.

Only have a fixie in Cork with me, which has 48-16 set up, is 70k route a bit to rolly for that?

i think this is the "biggest" drag:
    http://app.strava.com/segments/932951
    1km @3.4%

theres a bit of a climb after that, but nothing on strava about it.
AFAIK from the area, its lumpy enough for a fixie.
where do you cycle around Cork on the fixie?

Crossahven to town via passage, rochestown, centre park road.
    Thanks for info

    Taken from their facebook page

The route starts at Garden centre, on the Dripsey Castle scenic route then cross country through Fergus and pass Farran wood turn right Aglish area [ stunning scenery and great hills] pass Farran Church and connect to N 22 travel almost to Macroom turning right approx 5 k before the town , following a lovely stretch of road to Coachford where you go north on a scenic routeback to Griffins...

Might give the 70 a go.

Was only looking at the one in Blarney next month and was wondering about going straight from hibernation to 100k. A 70k might be just the thing to get rid of the last few selection boxes!

Good job my shorts are stretchy!

The 70 was not designed by a cyclist! Some crazy navigation, non intuitive turns, direct crossing of busy main(er) roads, a right hand turn onto the N22. Be careful all. Lumpy enough too in the initial 30k. However, fair play to them for staging it. The social end of De Ronde van Cork CC will be there in numbers, including a number of our road captains. Keep an eye out for our colours!

Go for it, Mr Soarer. Fall in with our group as a guest if you wish.
    You know who ;)

Just back there now. Really enjoyed it. Ended up doing the 50 as I started late. Start was hilly which I enjoyed for once. Felt good on the ups. Second half was relatively flat and motored on.

After my last spin this felt like I was a different man :)

Count yourself lucky you didnt try that on a fixie ;-)

Well done to Griffins for organising a great event this morning. I had my doubts about the convoluted route beforehand, but it was very well marked on the road, and marshalled at all the critical junctions. The day itself was crisp and cool, with great visibility on very pleasant minor roads. At pace, the initial 20k would have resembled a continental classic at times. De Ronde van Cork CC enjoyed it!

Second this. Weather was perfect for this time of year. Marshalling and signes were very good. And Griffins put on a great spread at the end. Whole event couldn't have been better. Would love to know how many people took part.
