    hi, some help please

I'm making solid wood shelves between two walls in a small office.
    Distance between walls = 1.9m
Fitting to walls = using cross-bars
Wood to be used = thinking of 6x2 (15cmx4cm) rough, will fine it
Shelves will carry moderate load (office stuff)

Q: is 4cm is a bit too thick? any formula to follow?

"1.5 Structural items . Issues relating to the specification of structural components is prohibited. Any queries in this regard need to be dealt with by an architect/engineer privately." :)

We're not permitted to discuss structural issues but I think it would be safe to say that you will be ok with that spec. Put a support stand/bracket in the centre and you could reduce its thickness by halve
